I'm buying a digital camera, will be the first one I have had that isn't a point and shoot.
I've narrowed it down to the GH2 or D7000. I shoot daily with a 35 mm SLR. I have 5 Nikon primes, A 24 f2.8, 35mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8, 85mm f2, 135mm f2.8. I probably will stick with these and not invest in any more lenses in the near future, except maybe a wide angle for whichever camera I get. I won't be upgrading very soon after this purchase.
I want the camera for video and photos. I will continue to shoot with my Nikon FA as well.
Both cameras I'm looking at are used. The GH2 is $600 and the D7000 is $800.
I tend to be pretty hard on equipment and I would have the camera with me at least 4 days a week.
I shoot a wide array of subjects, mainly action sports. I don't usually use much lighting equipment or do much work in a studio, but I may in the future.
I have access to Macs with 2 x 2.4 GHz intel processors and 8 GB Ram for editing. I may get a new laptop soon as well.
So what camera does NS recommend?
Don't swim, float.
