Yes, but only for surf style turns. You can kind of do it on skis but on a snowboard you get more of that fins free ten feeling. Especially the way you can control your back foot since you're attached.

holy butthurt batman,

I'm passing judgment because the equipment you just got so pumped on is used on rental boards. Generally when i think of rental boards i think gaper, if you don't you're lying. The technology used in those bindings is not meant to go anywhere near the park or serious technical part of a ski mountain.

If the equipment is designed for the lowest level of talent then it's not really a valid argument at all.

"I'd use them regardless of a verdict passed by a member of a ski forum."
Ask anyone remotely involved in the snowboard industry, they can tell you the same thing

On days I'm skiing I will wear my boots everywhere. Undo a couple buckles and you're good to go. Even driving isn't too hard to get used to if you have an automatic.

I think really the snowboard/ski experience is the different for every. I board; enjoy ski talk more though. Anyways, I envy skiers so much; if I don't wax my board, I am fucked on flat spots. I unbind and walk/skate......my whole crew (skiers) just skates ahead. I have skied before, and I realize skating is still tiring but still.............

I never said you couldn't do tricks anyway you wanted. Just that there are certain ways snowboarders generally want tricks to look. By all means, do your thing how you see fit. I very much believe in not listening to others when it comes to doing what you love. If you have a good time doing it one way then you won't care what anyone else says. Or you shouldn't at least.

I use to snowboard but i switched to skiing and it is so much better. Also i hate when snowboarders think they are top shit because they can 50-50 a small rail

I like skiing more because there are less people who think they are the absolute shit when the 50-50 and ruin the lips onto a rail because the need that massive air time or something......I hate being associated with that, but I love snowboarding but would rather have the skier community if that makes any sense.

yeh , snowboarding is sick as fuck they really are 10 steps ahead of us in every aspect

Im a lot better at snowboarding than i am at skiing but i feel that landing a 3 on skis for me is a lot more satisfying than doing a 5 or something better on a snowboard. Also snowboarding you cant really put that much of your own style in it as you can with skiing. Lastly the time it takes to sit and strap in really adds up and just takes away from the experience its like "yo man im stoked to do this trick but i gotta sit and strap in" and by the time your done you lose that drive you had before. Just my opinion as a guy who snowboards and skis.

Completely and respectfully disagree with this quote, "you cant really put that much of your own style in it as you can with skiing". You can impart your own style on anything in life, all you need is some imagination and inspiration.

And as far as strapping in takes too long. Yeah it is a little big of a hassle but if you snowboard often enough and have bindings that don't suck it takes seconds. I often find that it takes me just as long to strap in my one foot as it does for my ski friends to buckle their boots, put their poles straps on, whatever every time we get off the chairlift.

i put my pole straps on when im moving.....usually if one buckle comes undone i do that while skiing too.

I respect your opinion and yes you can put your own style into anything in life but everything has a certain extent of how much of yourself you can put into it. When i see people snowboard or even watch videos of myself everyone looks pretty much the same, the way they turn how they do tricks etc but when I see people ski I can pick out who I know just from the way they move or how much they tweak a certain grab. To me, I feel that skiing ability and the extensive variety of tricks in the sport surpass that of snowboarding therefore deeming skiing the sport that is more abundant with individuality.

oh and for this, i just like a go go go pace and not really have to stop for anything even if it takes a few seconds you still have to do it. Dont get me wrong i love snowboarding and would consider myself more of a snowboarder than a skier. both sports really have different things going for them though snowboarding has its flaws it make up for them elsewhere and each of them have a lot in common and back to the point of the thread if someone really envys snowboarders become one and do both sports nothings stopping you

1. Snowboarding in pow is amazing, it feels just like surfing,
2. The boots are more comfortable, and easier to walk in.
3. The skills transfer directly into other sports i love; surfing, skateboarding and wake boarding.

Also, the average snowboarder is cooler then the average skier. Skiers try to hard to compensate. and Its hard to explain to random people what freeskiing really is.

Not too much besides ollies and how they hit certain features. I like skiing more because you can achieve more variety with grabs and on rails because you have two planks on your feet as opposed to one.
