Do your parents buy your ski gear?

people on this website frequently make fun of each other by suggesting that "mommy buys all your ski stuff for you," so im curious as to how often that actually happens. BE HONEST! theres no shame in admitting that your mom or dad supports your endeavors, and im curious to see how everyone matches up.

im 19 and i usually have to buy my own clothes, helmet, goggles, and other outerwear things. the more expensive things like boots and bindings and skis i can generally convince my dad to buy for me as long as its in reason. if i want something less necessary, however, i usually have to buy it for myself, like powder skis (im on the east coast).

what about you? its fine if you say that every single one of your 40 jiberish hoodies was bought by your mom, or if your parents dont love you and make you fend for yourself entirely.

im 20 and i buy most my stuff but my parents usually buy my boots and expensive outerwear stuff. but i get free helmets and goggles so that makes it easier for me.

My parents usually pay half of the total cost of skis, boots, and bindings, and they sometimes buy me outerwear, helmets, and goggles, but I usually buy those.

they pay half for skis and boots, and full for helmets. everything else is on me, except for the occasional gift every 2-3 Christmas or Birthdays.

My first skis were a birthday gift, but I've bought every pair since. I work on hill to get a pass, but I pay for everything myself including my camera/lenses/accessories, skis, boots, outerwear and the works.

I used to race when I was young so my parents paid for everything I needed but when I stopped racing at 15, they got me my first pair of twintip skis, bindings, park boots and a new suit but since then they haven't payed for anything and I am now almost 22.

i will get a jacket or something if i ask for it for christmas/ my birthday, but now that i think of it thats it. i could prob get something bigger if it was one of the only things i ask for, but they will never buy me skis boots or bindings. as of right now, the only things i wear that my parents paid for are my helmet, gloves, and socks

maybe something for chirstmas, and they'll buy me helmets, cause one of my friends got seriously injured skiing without a helmet.

If i ask for something for xmas, they might get it for me. The last item of ski gear my parents bought me was a paif of SPKs from 2-3 seasons ago.

I buy it all, but I proform it all, so I pay 60% less than all of you. Though it is 60% the gear is still expensive for a kid without much cash, so I only buy skis once every two or three years.

Depends on what it is. If i need it to ski (parents are supportive of me skiing) they'll help me out to an extent. Some stuff i buy on my own though. Just depends on what it is.

my parents give me a fairly large allowance each month and tell me i need to buy everything, incluing school clothes, books, food, and other things. But i got a job this summer and spent that money on skis bingings and a new jacket

Only thing i've ever had purchased for me is helmets. My parents get me a new helmet every year because they want my head to be safe.

other than that, i've gotten goggles for christmas and that's it.

Everything else was on my own.

My parents refuse to buy me anything skiing related. They used to buy my shit when I raced as a kid between 2-8 obviously because I had no concept of money, than when i switched to snowboarding they were chill with paying for it. But when I switched back to skiing more specifically freeskiing at 15 they told me to "fend for myself" now 19 and haven't looked back. The only thing they've paid for is my mom goes to whistler every year for her birthday/family ski trip so they pay for my lift tickets and hotel stay. but other than that anything skiing related is bought on my dime. Kinda sucks sometimes but I don't care because if they were buying it I would get harassed with questions and it's not worth it

last thing my parents bought was my poles, 2 years ago, stil use em, now, im 16 and i work at the ski hill so i get a free pass. my parents wont even buy me a new helmet when mines breaking because "you have a job..... when i was a kid... blah blah blah" they have no problem buyin for y brothers skateboarding tho, and i have a 85% avg -_-

i bought all my own skis, boots were my birthday gift last year, i bought my own pass, my parents bought me new outerwear because i was using really old stuff and they felt bad with me getting wet. i bought my own goggles. they bought my helmet because they like me to wear one. all the hats and facemasks and things like that are on my own.

i buy the majority of my own gear, they help me out when its something i really need though

i just spent a few minutes racking my brain trying to think if my parents have bought me any gear for skiing. and since starting skiing at age 12 they have bought me no gear. a season pass every year until i moved out, but other than that. nothing.

come to think of it ive only owned 3 pair of ski boots. lol

I am buying pretty much all of my stuff my self. Only thing my parents will pay for is the accomodation and lift passes if we go skiing together (which is still kinda good I guess :D)

im 17 and i buy outerwear and my pow skis. my dad will buy me helmets and other safety stuff and he will sumtimes chip in for my park skis. i mostly buy everything.

When I haven't had a job my rest he bought me gear, but only hen it was really necessary. They also buy my lift tickets and pay for y gas up to the hill which is huge. My family is all addicted to skiing though so they get it.

My parents pay everything I really need, so basically if I want to buy new goggles or helmet or hoodies when my old ones are ok, I have to buy them myself. that means a new jacket once in 2 years, new pants once in 2 years, boots when old ones are too small, skis depending how much they cos.

I've bought both of my sets of skis, bindings and boots.
I bought my poles

My parents bought me a helmet and my pants, only because my old ones were too small.
I paid for my Jacket

My goggles were a present

I usually pay for my passes.

And random facemasks, hats and other small things were christmas or birthday gifts.

Im 19 andI have been getting free park skis for four years since a pair of threats. Now I have a-bangs. My other skis like my 2011 bacons I bought because there is no reasonable explanation to buy them. I'm buying bent chetlers soon and I'll be buying those. I bought both pairs of boots. This year when I move to revy, they went 50/50 on a season pass because I got it before the early bird deadline. And that was also because my birthday is in September. It was my birthday present.

My parents bought my entire ski gear except ski's, pants and goggles. They said they will buy an entire ski set once and then I have to buy everything myself. So now I have to buy everything myself.

my parents pretty much always help me with my skis and boots, they have paid half on my last 2 pairs of skis and boots, outerwear/goggles/exct. unless its for Christmas or birthday i usually pay myself but my parents do help me out when i need things im really greatful for that
