New park skis :D

Hey. I need new skis since my AR6's is getting old. These are the skis that my local dealer have in store(from cheap to expensive):

- Volkl Wall 11/12
- Salomon Suspect
- Line Afterbang
- Atomic Punx
- Scott Jib TW
- 4FRNT Switchblade
- Line Chronic
- Armada AR7
- Armada Thall
- Kastle XX90 James

Kay, so the problem is to choose one. I ride(95%) in the park all season long unless it snowed like crazy one night, then I may feel like hitting some cloud pillows between the trees. I want a LIGHT ski that goes under the category playful. At the moment I'm leaning towards the Chronics because they looked very good this year :) Any thoughts?

Oh! And I will be putting some Marker Griffons on them(unless you guys think 4FRNT Deadbolt 13 would be a better choice). I have really little info on the Deadbolts. I have griffons on my AR6 and they are light and solid.

I would say get the Thalls, but if you aren't wanting to spend too much money, the afterbangs got very good reviews this year, freeskier rated them as #3 park ski for the year, and both would fit under the category Playful

And good choice with the griffons, I have them on my JJs and they're definitely solid, I love them compared to the Squires I have on my park skis.

get ar7s or thalls. i strongly dont recommend abangs....

Reasons? I would love to get ar7s or Thalls, but Im kind of short on money right now and my current park skis may not last this season so I was considering abangs to save a few bucks, what are the problems with them?

Volkl walls, solid ski... and you can still rip around the mountain...

and stick with the griffon.

Ill stay with the griffons, but I'm still not sure which ski to choose. Aren't the abangs kind of heavy(I read freeskiers article, I was suprised they got 3rd) ?

Coming from the ar6, unless you really want a jib noodle, the afterbang will probably feel very dead and heavy.

Same, I figured they must have done some major upgrades from last years to earn that.. I guess not? And they still suck besides being bomb proof?

Okey, I think I'll go for the AR7's or the Chronic's. Am i the onlyone that thought the 2013 chronics looked good?

because magazine reviews are never ever influenced by advertizing dollars...

If you liked the AR6s get the AR7s

This, also I really like the Afterbangs but if you feel like spending more money the Scott's are a great ski

I'd go with ar7's. You know they are going to be just as dependable as your ar6's. I rode on 1st gen afterbangs before and I hated them, way too stiff and they are a bit heavy.

Suspects, all though their durability issues, hold up pretty well in powder for what type of ski they are as well the AR7 I would probably go with one of those if I where you.

Of those listed the only ones i would describe as particularly playful are Afterbangs, Punx and THalls.
Afterbangs weigh approximately the same as a medium sized elephant so I'd forget those personally. Get punx if you are on a tight budget or THalls if not.

Skis on your list to Look at:

AR7: You like the AR6 you'll most likely like the AR7.
Thall: same dimenson of the AR7 just softer
wall: Stiffer than the AR7. Full Symmetrical.(nice for switch)
Switchblade: Same type of ski that AR7 is. High end park.
Kastle XX90: Saw a review of the XX110, seems their letting Colby James West freedom to design everything and anything on the XX series. This results in awesome jib skis. Haven't found any decent reviews but can imagine this ski is going to kill it. full Symmetrical. Rockerd

Skis not on your list but they might have them in the shop:
Line traveling circus: with it's rocker you might like it when it does snow deep. About as playful as Thalls. Full symmetrical.

If your griffons are getting old and you need to replace them, get deadbolts. They kill it just as much. But if you get the griffon tested and the work great mount them up.

i have a pair of switchblades and love them. great park ski, and you can do fine on the occasional groomer run that you take.

i have then mounted with deadbolts, and don't have anything especially nice or bad to say about them. They did their job, but I'm sure the griffons would be good as well.
