LOL, pretty much. Put it this way. Go where you want and have heli ski terrain and the cost of gear and fuel for your car. The only down side is that when you heli skiing you get 3-7 laps while ski touring gets 1-2 or you can just lap features. So lets say a pillow line that take 45 mins to ski up , would take you about an hour per lap,( plus your approach) do 3-6 of those then ski on to the car.
I personally love ski touring and tour quite often but if you expecting a 45 min hike for a couple thousand feet of vert then you in for a huge surprise when you go out your first time.
