What do I think of the new skis? THEY KICK ASS. Plain and simple. now, I haven't tried 4frnt or Armada yet, so i can't describe the difference. but you can definitly feel the difference between these and last years line lineup. less chatter, hold an edge better in hardpack, ice, crusty groomers. they do pretty well in slush (not that slush is an important review anyway...) but they do hold a nice grip in the soft stuff for all you summer campers and such. they did feel different in the slush than older models, but I wasn't really paying attention to anything technical. I was just skiing. as far as the park goes, the chronic is fun to play with, awesome pop, stiffer ski than skis in the past which makes it fun to goof off with. I didn't have a pipe to test it in, they tore it down a couple days before I got up there. the pollards, well, they were my favorite, that's why I bought them after the chronics. the chronics were rather short for a guy like me, but ended up being the perfect fit for my buddy that is shorter and lighter than me. so anyway, the pollards, like the chronics, awesome park ski, solid pop, they didn't catch as much as the old skogans would when you landed on your edges off a spin(anyone else have that problem? oh, ok, must just be me then...). They were light, so it didn't feel like i was lugging a pair of skis around in a spin or flip. out of the park, they were suprisingly nimble and fun. they made run after run through a line of moguls and didn't catch or throw me around, they held a deep hard carve very nicely, no chatter. switch stance was very easy, didn't have any problems just running the face (face? I don't know the names of the runs i was going backwards down, so i'll just say face.) straight down. in the park a switch landing was butter, nice and simple.
Don't really have any complaints on this batch of skis, I am really happy with my investment. now i just have to appease myself until the reactors come out so i can play around with those on my skis and see how those do.
I would say that if you haven't demo'ed a pair of 05 line skis, try 'em out. you never know, this breed might just make most people happy:)
