What about Rawanda? I don't know much about the details, but did the US attack who-ever killed all those people with the same frenzied vigor with which they attack The Taliban? Canadians were NOT deciding factors in WW2, so don't try to make your country seem that it was a crucial factor. I am damn sure that without Canada, we would have won WW2, but I am not saying they weren't important. They were a economic factor, but not a military factor. Seriously look at the KIA and MIA rate between Canada and the US.

I didn't see it mentioned that the Canadians had a beach to cover on D-day, that is the one battle that I was thinking someone would mention. But then again, they werent the deciding factor.

Alright first of all thats how my friends and I talk, I really don't think you can judge the way I talk from an inernet forum. I love hip-hop and I don't understand how that makes me want to live in the projects. ok andy. you didn't see it because no matter how hard you try you are still seeing a biased view of america. just as I have a biased view towards canada.

Juno beach. 6 miles wide.. you know how wide omaha beach was? 6 miles. they were both equally difficult, Omaha had cliffs, Juno had offshore reefs rigged with mines. Canadian soldiers were also placed in Sword beach. Canada (because of it's previos ties with Britian) had it's military split up in some cases so Canada had a bigger impact than most people realize.

Here's a site with the major battles that Canada won. they neglect to mention dunkirk and the rhine. (The rhine was won by many forces with the Canadains on the front lines, it was the gateway to berlin.) Inside of the headings on this page there are numerous battles that were participated in by Canadians and ONLY canadians (some, like Dieppe, were participated in by other forces but Canadians were the majority). there are more battles where the Canadians were involved but not so heavily to call them 'our battles'.

Canada, socially is far better than the U.S. Our education system is better (thats not saying much) and privitization hasn't set in yet. When I said the treaty of versaille was based on 14 points, I meant that in the loosest sense b/c I know that the Treaty was not written entirely on the 14 points, but some of them were used. My country is over there helping. We have about 3 aircraft carriers and navy ships over there, plus our SAS troops. Our Prime Minister was in the USA when 9/11 happened, and he helped out straight away. We might not have done food drops, but our troops are over there helping fight. A couple of SAS troops have died already.
We're supporting your country, and ours is pushing for something as simple as free trade agreements with probably the most powerful nation in the world, and your President won't even agree to that.
I'm sorry to rant, but it just pissed me off when you said no one is helping. We live on the other side of the world and we have people dying for your country. I'd call that helping out a lot.

Ok Canada had the third largest military force(before the states joined) in WW2, if Britain had lost the battle of Britain, Canada would of been the head of the Allies. Canadians fought valiantly and won at Juno Beach(the canadian beach in ww2). It was a largly canadian campaign in Italy. And in WW1 Canadians were known as the fiercest figheters. Our soldiers were used as schock tropps against the Germans because they feared them. We also won the battle of Cimmy Ridge(a battle that the other allies tried, and failed to win) in that battle Canadians captured more supplies, troops, equipment, ect. then any other allied force. Also in ww2 we liberated the netherland(where they have just recently created a 'Liberation' rose in OUR honor). Both my Grand fathers fought valiantly in ww2 and many of my family members died in ww1. ANY american who bellitles the canadians contribution to the war effort is personaly insulting me and my Family.

Also for those of you that didn't know, that even though the Americans helped write the treaty of Versailes, after it was signed they entered an isolationist phase. Leaving France and england(both weakend sevearly after fighting for the WHOLE course of the war) to enforce the treaty, but seing as how they didn't have the resources, Hitler was allowed to create an Army.

Also the whole Cuba situation, Fidel Castro first came to the U.S. for help building his country, he was offering to create a democratic state and so on. But the americans turned him down. So fidel decided to get his support from the Russians. The problem with the states, they create their own messes in other peoples country's.

Now for those of you who try and say that yanks and canucks are the same, we're not. First off, the american government is far more right wing then any official canadian party, we have a More socialist view of things then the states generaly does(we are no where near being a socialist nation though). Also for those of us who watch CBC we also have an untainted media source.
Now i'm not attacking americans personaly, it's just a general statement,

3.) Canada has been invaded a few times by the states, We've had a few colonial skirmishes(which may not count but it was back when French colonists attacked the british colonists)
The war of 1812 is one of the other obvious invasions, also there were the fenian raids. Oh and i nearly forgot, the states also invaded quebec during the american revolution. IN the battle around montreal, General Montgomery was killed, and Benedict Arnold was shot in the leg.

Andy, did I say the USA? I meant America if I did. Yeah, Canada is going down. I hate the whole North American Culture even though I'm part of it. I think it's negitive qualities (the only one I seem to notice) are gonna bring the whole thing crashing down. I eat at McDonalds, but I hate it. This is why I dislike The United States of America:

The rampant, obsesive materialism in The United States of America and Canada is, in my opinion, perverse. Because The United States of America is so much larger that Canada in terms of population (about 9:1), economics, (GDP/person; 3:2) and military (50:1), I consider it to be the more controlling of the two. I (rather childishly) assume that the controlling country is responsible for the behavior of the contient and it's inhabitants. I do not like The United States of America because their power is controlled by career-obsessed, greedy, philistines. While the Goverment of Canada may also be controlled by the same type of people, The Goverment of Canada does not and could not exercise the same influence in favor of these people as the goverment of The United States of America can and does. I likely would not dislike The United States of America if their people were not so powerful. Ignorant, biased people I do not mind, Canada is a nation of these people. But, ignorant, biased, and powerful people are the ones I dislike. I hope this has helped some of you to understand my often hypocritical opinions.

Obviously Mao isn't cool, I was using him to make a point. Those are all political leaders who went against liberalism/democracy and coincedentially were all straight up gangstas. Take Castro for example. Castro in university politics was known to wave his peice around at the opposition. Eventually him and to other guys shot the leader of another party.

All countries have their own problems. Canada, USA, Rwanda, whatever. It is no use arguing this topic because no matter how much we try not to, we are all giving biased opions (even me). Personally, I believe the USA government has done much harm to the world, but has also helped it. We take intrest in places we have we have no business being in (e.g. Vietnam War...containment of communism), but we also send aid to countries in need after war and diaster. Canada has done the same, along with almost every single nation in the world. It is useless attacking people by the actions of their own countries. The majority of the world has little and in most cases no power to change the actions of thier countries government. So I personally beleive to let this topic go, Isn't arguing who is good and who bad part of the problem?

Exactly, you look at any country there are people unhappy with the government. The goal of the general population is to be happy. Often it is easiest to blame our lack of happiness on the government. We can all sit here and be ignorant and flame (like i did) and bitch but in the end it doesn't count for shit. You can see the government the way you want. I don't support the U.S. government but who am I to say the majority of people in the U.S. aren't happy. And who are we to say the women of the middle east aren't just as happy as us. There are several ways we can look at the government. We can resent it and be hostile to eachother, or we can accept thats just the way things are and live our own lives according to what we believe is right. Now you can sit back and say with that kind of attitude there never would have been a Malcolm or a Che or a whoever you look up to politically but if you look back on the lives of those revolutionaries they weren't that happy. It all comes down to this quote (Pink Floyd.. Dazed and confused) The government is gonna make all these rules but you just gotta keep on livin'. Thats not word for word but you get it. Just be excellent to yourself and those around you and your doing your part.

Being the wealthiest nation in the world it is pretty much our duty to go help those who cant help themselves in times of need and we can pretty much help ourselves because of that too.
