anyone see the Time article about the genocide going on there? we are obliged, by treaty to help in the situation, but we have um... higher... priorities. so, there are far more dangerous people outside of iraq, and they didnt all go away when clinton decided to first bomb some genocidal african fuckers, then not bomb them back in the good ol 1990s... so yeah, we, as a nation, are fucking stupid.

I mean are country is in serious debt and the world is only getting shittier. Are we expected to help others even when we clearly don't haev the resources to do so. I mean how much of ourselves should we sacrifice for the improvement of this planet. We arn't the only country afterall. Unless countries start paying taxes to America to pay for this stuff.... :D But seriously I'm not an isolationist but we need to draw the line somewhere.

We have our hands full right now, whether it is just or unjust, and we just can't handle going out into the sudan to take care of genocidal muslim horsemen, really, there is no way that we could take that on, and really what is the UN for, they went into yugoslavia when Milosovich was on his Hitleresque binge, why can't they do that now? Oh I remember, they don't have anyone to send in there since we are in Iraq. Really, we can't hold the rest of the worlds hand and take care of all there shit for them. other nations have to burden the weight of being a global babysitter too.

i posted about this in the politics cult a few months ago. shortly thereafter is was watching the c-span coverage of an UN council meeting on the subject, where the united states was presenting a resolution requiring the sudaneese government to disarm the janjaweed militia (government sponsored arabic muslims) immidiatly, or face sanctions, and military consequences. the sudaneese ambassador subsequently got up and discounted the entire plan because it was spearheaded by the americans, and blah blah blah....

in short, the newly established AU (african union) is supposedly sending in peace keeping troops from neighboring countries to try and get things under control. we all know that this probably wont do anything though, nor will sanctions. the UN needs to get tough, and follow through on the preexisting resolutions that threaten sanctions and use of force on the sudaneese government if they do not expel the janjaweed from the Darfur. guess what? the sudaneese government is doing it! or at least thats what they say. in the mean time the un is sitting on their thumbs, and 50,000 more black sudaneese farmers are killed each month, and many more are displaced.

Well we are low on money but theres more reasons for that kind of shit than just the war in Iraq. Medicade and Social security are our budgets biggest expendatures and people are living longer and this problems not going away anytime soon. I mean seriously how many billions of dollars is it worth our country for an 86 year old man to be in intensive care for an entire year to keep him alive at the cost of millions to tax payers? I think the biggest problem is people want to lower taxes that is not the answer. Lowering taxes boosts our economy but it deteriorates our social institutions. When you say 'no' to raising taxes your basically saying we should let countless people die in order for you to fatten your wallet a bit. It is pretty clear this day and age that we need to hike taxes a bit to offset the costs of all our domestic social problems and our crusades around the world

I think less taxes and goverment is good (josh dont say anything you told me u are for less taxes too). I mean think about it. Less taxes mean people have more money to dispose. well if i have more money to spend maybe i will buy my self a new car, skis, TV, computer, etc.
