Sorry Chaunceyskis, I couldn't wait to make the thread.

Post up videos of your favorite pros killing it, pics of some sick spots in your town, or videos of you landing a new trick, ask about tricks, give advice on tricks, discuss/review skates, and discuss the latest news in the world of aggressive skating!

Eventually, we could even use this thread for buying, selling, and trading parts or full skates.



First off, what are your thoughts on the beginning of powerblading? Kizer has just brought the concept into play in the aggressive rollerblading game with their new frames able to hold 4 80mm wheels while still allowing soul and negative plate grinds. Check the fourth and fifth edit for some powerblading shots.

Second, there is a lot of good advice on what type of skates suit you in this thread, as well as where to buy full skates/parts,(https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/615627/), all courtesy of a_pla5tic_bag

this for sure.

the only downsides i can see are potential hate from skateboarder friends, torn up knees and palms (if you want less pain then just wear sweats or jeans when you skate, i wear shorts but thats just personal preference), and the cost.

if you've got some spare cash, don't mind taking a couple spills along the way, and don't care about the hate, then fucking go for it. you won't regret it.

I like this idea a lot too! Find people in your area that skate! CALLOUT: Flathead Valley, MT skaters (for example) lol This thread has a lot of uses. We should post pics of setups too :)

what is everyone's thoughts on SSM/Nimh? The reviews about them say they are good, but Brian's business practices seem to have caused quite the shitstorm. And are the products good, or just decent?

I ride I pair of Nimh liners right now and don't have any complaints, definitely have held up over the past several years, can't really complain or say anything bad but I don't have any experience with there actual skates

I also rode a pair of nihm liners in my old gen skates and the liners were reallll comfy. but I have to say I like my jug liners better. but the skates themselves are far from superior. They are really heavy and the sizing on them is all wrong. there is too much plastic between you and the soul plate/frame, so you have much less control than if you were riding say a razor or remz skate.

i know i JUST got my skates and what not but it seems to me its like skis and i get the itch and have to go look at new shit and potentially spend way to much money

BUT

i wanna purchase another set of skates so i can spap some powerblade frames on them and such

i might pick up a semi-decent pair for cheap, sell the frames or keep them for later use, and throw some kizer powerblading frames on them for some fun haha

Whats the diffrence between freestyle frame / normal one? for instance a featherlite..

for a guy like me starting out, what would be best? freestyle or normal frame? please helppp

i'd go with the normal setup aka an antirocker setup. the only differences are your center of balance, and how easy it is to stay locked into grinds. Freestyle frames will let you grind on rougher objects easier and also help you grind otherwise impossible stuff, however the feel is very different than that of an antirocker setup, and it's much more difficult to lock into your grinds (atleast thats what i'd believe to be true)

i've never skated freestyle, but i'd recommend antirocker and after a while if you really want to then try out a pair of freestyle frames

ankle flexibility. you have to bend your ankles enough so that the plastic of the skate is on the ground, not the wheels.

landing switch is easier in my opinion

it's much more common to land regular while leaning back, and something with the way skates are makes it really awkward. you basically have to land like an absolute boner, as LJ would say, and it feels awful. there is literally no shock absorption.

thats cause you guys probably go from skiing to skating. after 10+ years of skating and only a few years of park skiing, i'd say my landings on skis are pretty good. plus i like landing backwards way more.

I'm probably going to buy some Remz Franky's and I want to know if I could downsize from a 10 to a 9 because the smaller shell is lighter. I have wide feet but not too wide, I wear 10's and I can fit into a 9 fine. I think my feet aren't growing anymore though.
