Can anyone give me a solid reason NOT to buy some JJs?

Was testing skis at this store. Already threw $100.00 into the store and I can use it towards the ski I want in that store.
The Armada JJ was the best powder ski in that store I felt.

Can Anyone give me a Solid reason why I should not to buy the JJ?  Other wise thats what Im picking out for a Powder/bigmnt ski.

Skiing in Colorado. Any other recommendations would be helpful.

Well they are good everywhere but they don't excell in one place. They are soft, unstable, but I like mine. That bieng said, I won't buy another pair, except the AK JJ.

I haven't personally skied them but the seems to be a common reponse ... if you liked the feel of them then get them, skis are often personal preference

And because they have a 12 meter turning radius which is super tight compared to ANY other ski on the market, and is just stupid if you want to lay down long turns on edge, it's physics working against you.

spot on. i would change "good" to "mediocre". I bash the shit out of the JJ because the type of skiing i do does not stand a chance with the JJ. that being said, i am considering it for only 10" plus days when i want to jib around and ski tight trees. but to be honest i'll probably buy the s7 for that.

if you suck at skiing and are expecting this ski to ski it all then you'll enjoy it. but if you know how to work a ski and can charge, then forget the JJ

because they are noodly, squirley at speeds, hooky, and overall suck at life. i dont understand why people enjoy riding them. They are a powder ski for people that cant ski. imo.

the rocker2 115 was far better/more fun in powder from when i tested, however....  the JJ's groomer preformance converted me... size them bigger.

Maybe if you could tell us what other brands/models the store carries we could provide some alternatives. If they carry Armada and you want a pure pow ski and can carry the order over to next season, might look into the Bubbas or the Magic J.

they hook like hell, sidecut is soooo off.

major reason: the bases and edges are mega thin and weak.

1 season at big sky did that. 2 seasons at big sky on significantly higher quality skis on a lower snow year only gave me one little coreshot.

SO. MUCH. BULLSHIT. In this thread.

Side cut on the 185's isn't 12m for one thing.

Yes the edges are thin, one of the things which makes them so much lighter than any comparable pow ski.

If you're a 200lbs+ big mountain charger get something straighter and stiffer

If you're a typical NSer kid then you'll love em

yea its 14m in the 185 and 18m in the 195 im pretty sure.

im 165lbs and i wouldnt ski em

if your a typical NSer (cant ski pow your from the east) then they will do it for you

its a jib rats S7, thats the way i see it anyway, overly chunky tip those those who cant hold themselves up. soryy for ripping on it if you have it :p

What other ski options are in your shop? I've demoed some JJs, and didn't like them, actually I was wishing I wasn't on them half way down the mountain. I found them too noodly and unstable, don't really feel right for me in the steeps, and absolutely hell on groomers. They just weren't my cup of tea

im willing to bet all these people complaining JJ are "hooky" have absolutely no idea how to tune their skis...

take a gummy stone and detune the shit out of the tip and tail from the contact point onward - that goes for any rockered powder ski

only spot that needs to be sharp on those skis is the effective edge

the 185 JJ has a turning radius of 16m BTW... the only JJ with a turning radius of 12m is the 165cm length

or i could buy pow skis that i dont have to detune...

they are hooky becuase the tip is fucking massive, has elfshoe shit going on and has the flex of a pair of broken afterbangs.

im just saying they are jibbin pow ski, not for you if u are looking for a performance ski to charge in

I think Im gonna just wait and save money this summer and buy a powder ski next season. Any other Bigmnt/Powder skis I should keep out my eyes for  next season?  Heard the Atomic Automatic is suppose to fit the bill on what I want.  I wont be going switch much in powder anyway.

what type of skiig do you do? how much do you weigh?

i ski in whistler and and pow days here are usually a shit show to get first tracks, its helps to ski fast to get first tracks, i ski on 4FRNT EHPs in a 193 with a turning radius of 40m, im 75kgs, 6'3'' and and advanced skier. this is a directional ski (not a twin tip) and its basically for gs turns in pow and straightling ANYTHING with no ski chattering

If you ski somewhere with so crouds and will actually be buttering in pow and not charging and it is deep enough that yopu cant feel the bottom (heli skiing everyday) then get jjs.

 here are some alternatives:

volkl chopstick
moment bibbys, any of them
nordica radict
line 115
liberty dub helix

i dunno theres a shit ton of skis out there

I work and play here in Aspen, CO. Im 5'9'' 175lbs Advance skier. This is my second season here (from MN) and planning to be here next season.
I just want to start making a list of skis to test next season.

i tried my friends 185 JJs from this year and there was a decent amount of snow. I really felt like I didn't have control of the ski when turning and when being in the air, cause they would just move to uncontrollably i did not expect. Also i felt like that they didn't float that much. On the groomers on the other hand they performed pretty good, but who cares about groomer performance if your on a powder specific ski anyways, if it get you to the chair lift, its good enough. Long story short, after one run, I wanted my Hellbents back

i agree, everyone in this thread is hating way to much.

this post is the truth, they are a great ski if you want something to be able to handle all conditions reasonably.

i really enjoy the tight turn radius in the tight trees, since that is where you can usually find powder after a storm.

my biggest regret is not going for the akJJ.


that being said i find myself going for my jj's on groomer days more then anything else.

I like them in deep snow. But dont expect high speed groomers and a ski that can chop through crud. Also way to soft for me

my friend has gone through 2 pairs of JJ's this season, 1 day on the first pair, warranted them and then about 4 days on the second pair before they got screwed over
