I just want to make sure that all you media types are crystal clear that the Nike Chosen contest has a $10,000 prize. Half for the athlete, half for the filmer. So if you're a filmer and you haven't seen my other posts on this, get down and get dirty. Grab an athlete and put a fucking edit together.

Shit I'm sure most of you have already filmed enough to cut something rad together even only from what you already have.

I was gonna enter my friend nick who's pretty damn good but just saw some entries and saw dale talkington entered by 4bi9. No offense but i think that's so lame, this shouldn't be a contest for pro skiers. Call dale no professional, but he sure is much more recognized than most skiers. Eheath will prob. enter some big name like tim mcchesney, I don't know I just don't think it's right

Really dude? Its an online open contest for $10,000 dollars and you expect people like me (who are broke as fuck) to not enter? get your head out of your ass, just because we film "pro" skiers (or in the skiers case, are "pro" skiers) doesn't mean we shouldn't be allowed to enter the same contest as everyone else, especially one for such a big prize. It's just like the Aspen Open, even though anyone can enter, doesn't mean Gus can't come enter(and win).

I just think it's weak for the filmers side of things. Sure you're a good filmer, a damn good filmer but what makes your edits so "wow factored" is that you have pro skiers throwing down. Take your filming to any other place in the country that pros aren't everywhere and you'd realize my frustration. The kid I want to put in is really good, but no one can top dale talkington or any of the kids you film. I see where you're coming from but god damn, it's kinda bullshit that pro skiers are in this

Define a pro skier. It's not bullshit at all. It's a OPEN contest put on by nike with a pretty large prize. If it was for like 500 bucks then yeah maybe its be more suited for AMs, but its for 10gs and a trip to film at keystone. If the kid you want to film isn't good enough, get over it. Life isn't fair and isn't catered to your opinion. The contest is about more than just the skiers, its about the over all edit and filming too. Like pink name said, step your game up.

I also don't just have sick edits because I'm where "pro" skiers are. The people I film are my friends. I don't just go out and follow around good skiers with a camera and make edits. Yes, a couple of them are big pro skiers but most of them are just "pro" skiers. Tim, Dale, Wyble, Karl, Kutcher, rest of 4bi9 etc and other homies I film are mad good at skiing, but most of them work to support themselves.

i understand they're your friends, but go anywhere else in the country and good luck finding friends that are in professional movies. I just like seeing more unknown kids (both filmers/editors and skiers) show up and not kids i've been watching in 4bi9 movies for the past 5 years. i've seen enough of your edits to think that you shouldn't be allowed to make an edit for this contest. you have a orange name for a reason on here, meaning youre a pro filmer filming pro skiers. you should be stoked on that alone rather than trying to beat out kids that are trying to get recognized in the first place

as the rules clearly state, its not about "banger tricks" , that being said just have fun filming and making your own edit, worrying about other ppls wont help you, obviously there are going to be dope edits if the prize is 5G's, and yes dale's is grimey as shit

pretty sure hes not saying that at all..hes saying that your edits are only good because you have pro riders to film, .people like an average editing job on an edit with tons of bangers rather than skilled editing with little bangers..and i dont agree with him, i just dont think you get his point

There is a multitude of opportunities to win money as an amateur ski filmer, not every video submission contest is nationwide... just move on and look for other opportunities.

damn 10,000 is a huge prize. Since it's mostly just newschoolers entering I think it'd be cooler if just the final 5 got 2 grand and they all got the chance to shoot in keystone. chances are is some people won't be able to make it to keystone

I am really stoked on this competition because of it has rallyed everyone. So many rad edits

One thing that I am a little bummed on is how much footage is being reused. I kinda wish they had made a rule about all original footage. I think it would have generated more unique and cool edits. I am not hating on anyones edit and not saying that the edits are not super sick (because they are all). I just thing it would have rallyed people even harder to get out there and create something new. Maybe I am crazy.

Either way stoked this comp and to everyone who has uploaded sick edits.

I drove two hours to film with Kevin Thomas. Such a fun day. Our local mountain closed so had to meet with him somewhere else! Submitted the edit, just waiting for it to become live.
