Dude was one of the better athletes i have ever been around, and was also on some 2nd level vans sponsorship for skating. then his dad got a super rare cancer and dies 2 weeks later. they had to move out of their super nice house into essentially a trap house, and then one of our other friends killed himself in full view of us. We had always smoked weed, but now he started selling it just to pay for his own habit. he started skipping class and just sitting in his room all day just selling bud and smoking. he didnt get his high school diploma.

Eventually he realized that he wanted to change his life, but currently had few avenues to go down. So he resolved to get an education. So he went to the local CC and earned his GED 1 year out of high school. By this time he was the largest dealer in our 60,000 person town- he would get the bud from the growers and then would distribute it to the dealers in our town.

He wanted to go to college but college is expensive and while he was earning good grades at the CC, they werent gonna get him a significant academic scholarship, and his mom was just scrapping by taking care of his younger brother. so he stopped smoking all together(4 years sober) and focused on his grind and school for the next 3 years. just last year he quit dealing completely and started school at USF($50k per year). dude has learned great buisness and entrepreneurial sense, and has a competetive intership lined up for this summer.

Dealing drugs isnt a life ender, but its really fucking hard to dig your way out of the hole. the easy money(especially when you have parents paying for your things) is so addictive, along with the social status that comes along with it. if you do it one minute too long you will end up regretting it your whole life(police, getting robbed etc.)

Its just better to not get involved in shitty situations.

your parents are over protective for being mad at you for smoking weed if your 18. unless you clearly are abusing it (pretty hard to do with weed) and its affecting your life very negatively (also hard to do) then they should not even be thinking about rehab. In my opinion, smoking or not smoking weed is a personal choice that shouldn't be forced on anyone.

however, your parents are damn right to be mad at you for being a drug dealer.
