Suggest a good read for me

So, I honestly havent read a book cover to cover since about 8th grade. I'm now a sophomore in college. I think its time i learned how to read again. Can anyone suggest me some good adventure books? I love stuff like Jack London's call of the wild, Adv of Huck Finn, into the wild and hatchet. Looking for something along those lines, can be humorous, but i love the 'independent boy becomes a man through his wilderness adventure' theme. Thanks for the help in advance!

You will truly enjoy this. It is one of those rare books that you can't set down, and is non-fiction as well.

Fucking love this book.
Definitely check it out OP, you will not be disappointed.

I just finished with Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, and Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Awesome books but probably not up your alley....

Maybe check out James Rollins and Michael Crichton if you haven't, of Philip Pullman - The Golden Compass and that entire series are absolutely awesome. Clive Cussler has written a fuckload of books and I can safely say most of them are good.. His material could keep you busy for a long time.

If you read one, you have to read the other. They arent a series but both are fairly similar type stories that almost continue from one to the other. Similar to A Million Little Pieces but they show kids in the middle of a downward spiral. Way interesting.

okay OP.

first, i read a LOT.

i know my way around books.

this is one of the funniest books i have ever read, as well as being well written. (it's way better than the movie, if you've ever seen it).

it's a good book for someone who hasnt read in a while. it's not something that makes you desperately want to continue reading, but it interesting and fun.

chef reccomend.

i honestly did not like that book at all. not really sure why, maybe i just couldnt relate to Holden cuz he seemed a bit too crazy mentally. idk, just not really my cup of tea

i just picked that book up like two days ago. it is definitely an interesting read.

i love the fact that the Buddhist religion holds empiricism, logic and experiences over tradition, and that they are open to change the foundations of their religion if contradictory evidence arises. i feel like that idea is kind of a slap in the face to many western religious followers

Those are such rip offs of the Lord of the Rings, and are terribly written, but for some reason I find them amazing. The guy knows how to make a novel entertaining at the least. A fun read for sure.

it totally is.  the main books i read now are all just books written by the dalai lama or transcribed into english through his words.  really fascinating guy.

Ender's Game, a little easy, but it is so amazing. Definatly some really different concepts to. If you like the first one, read the rest of the series. They jump up in reading level a lot from Ender's Game to the rest of the series, but they still maintain the same effect on you.

if you are into futuristic sorta sci/fi stuff, check out margaret atwood.

Oryx & Crake is an unbelievably awesome book, probably my favorite ever.

Year of the Flood is the sequel to it and if you read them in succession, your head will be destroyed right off your shoulders, most mindfucking thing its so awesome. Cannot recommend those books enough.

But i would also like to agree with the Krakauer fans, Into thin Air is an unreal book too.
