First day on rails

so I'm usually a snow boarder but I've skied about 4 times this year. I went out again the other day with 45. and goonsquad08 I tried to hit a rail for the first time and ate shit but after a few runs I landed a fs 270 out, bs 270 ou,t a switch up fs and bs, a 360 and 180 off a jump and tried a Lincoln loop but didnt have enough air for the lincoln loop.

so should I pick up skiing?

I can vouch for the truthfulness of this thread.

I was equally impressed with Pissbutt's ability to pick up skiing. He can ski a groomer just fine - we live in the midwest so park riding is our primary type of terrain.

After completing both my PSIA Level I and Level II certifications as well as my AASI Freestyle Level I and Level II Certifications - I think I am far more qualified to state weather or not he is capable of skiing a groomer - which he does, just fine.

Clearly your level of competence is rather low. It's extremely arrogant for you to claim that he is incapable of performing any form of edging technique. If you had even the slightest amount of ski instructing knowledge you would know that kids with strong snowboarding backgrounds generally have minimal issues transferring over to skiing. 

No one has ever claimed he was a master - but he is very capable of skiing groomed runs in control and exercising basic edge control.

Now please, proceed to tell me how I know nothing and your years of park riding make you far more experienced and knowledgeable. Cause I would love to hear it.

We ride at Seven Oaks it sucks dick but its all we got at Iowa State. but I get out west a couple times a year

I snowboarded for almost 20 years, picked up skiing this year....it took me about 3 days to get the hang of it.

I will not comment on my park abilities....that part I have not quite got the hang of yet...haha

Exactly.

I agree that his park abilities far exceeded what I was expecting for his first day trying rails out... but it's so beyond ignorant to claim that someone who has only been skiing a few days can learn how to exercise edge control.

i agree with K_M here.... there is a difference between being able to make it down a blue run at a decent speed and parallel skiing, ripping carves down the hill at 45 mph. although it is sick that he is learning so quickly, if he plans on being proficient at the park at all, any skier needs to be able to ski groomers quite well.

Did you even read the thread beyond the first 6 posts?

Yes, yes there is a large difference between a 4th time skier and a lifer going "45 mph" ripping carves down a run. Thanks for clearing that up for us all - not the point of the discussion.

The point of this argument was over the statement that someone one their third time skiing could not perform any skill beyond "pizza" down the hill. I would say that he was pretty "proficient at the park" for his first day - even though he has recently just learned to link turns in parallel and beginning into basic edge control progression.

Fucking mobile, sorry, he just wanted to give a solid tip, and that's exactly what he did. He wasn't imposing, just wanted to help your all mountain game! But congrats on the switch and progress OP, you have me beat by far already. Stick with it but don't forget your snowboarding roots! I always want to go back and board for a day or so.

I'd think after being heavily qualified for something, a thing that barely anyone on here knows or cares about what the fuck it is, you would still posses the capability to use the correct "whether" in context. Your logic of relating my certifications - which directly relates to the topic newschoolers revolves around, to my incorrect usage of a word is hilarious.

Then to proceed to associate my grammar with his skiing abilities is even more ignorant. If you want to stoop to the level of NS grammar patrol - then so be it. You clearly missed the point of discussion. No one has anything to prove to you.

He simply made a thread looking for encouragement to continue skiing - if you don't/won't provide anything useful or intelligent to contribute to the discussion, why waste your precious words and time?

And I've heard that it's easier to switch over from boarding to skiing, than vice versa. So I believe that you are good.
