well, out of my 06' AR5s, 07' AR6s, 07' Pipe Cleaners, and 11' AR7s, the ar7s are by far the least durable. I think the quality before the ar50 construction was better and I miss it. not saying they aren't durable, just switch your skis every run
ill gets pics soon, but my base is seperating from the edge underfoot, its not an edge tearout there is a little less than a 1cm gap though. my friend has the same AR7s and does have a few inches of edge missing now though
having previously rode the ar5s way back in the day and now riding armadas with ar50 - the skis pale in comparison
i had foot long sections of edge rip out on my ar5 along with TONS of top sheet chipping... now with the ar50 and oversized edges i have zero edge cracks, minimal chipping, no delam issues and the bases have minimal scratching even after the skis are now on their second season pushing like 60 days
long story short, put in a minimal amount of effort by waxing every once in a while... and swap your skis from left to right foot every couple runs/days and i swear you won't be disappointed
I own ARVs, AR6s, and this years TST. I rode the hell out of my AR6s for several seasons taking them all over the mtn, from rails to bowls to trees, and have no sidewall cracking/issues whatsoever. Same with the ARVs. My TSTs are my touring ski so I dont do any park with em, but I've bashed em over rocks and stumps on our thin snowpack this season and no issues at all besides P-texing an occasional shot on the base.
Over the years I have owned AR5s, THalls, a couple pairs of Pipe Cleaners, and Alpha 1s. The only time I ever had a problem was with my 2005 AR5s. The edge started to rip out where it ends at the tip/tail on all sides. Other than that, I have had awesome durability from the other skis. They never gave me problems.
my 2010 ar6 that I am on my second year with are holding up good. No durability issues except for 1 core shot but that was my fault. The topsheet does chip very but like previously stated that does not matter and is gonna happen with any full sidewall ski.
What's the difference between a snowboard and a vacuum?
Weird, I've gone over alot of rocks and such this season on my ARVs and was really impressed with the 50/50 base on them from Armada. But I haven't ridden K2's factory line so I don't have experience with that and so I'm biased haha.
As long as that feeling's there, you're gonna keep coming back every year until you get that feeling and more.
