portaging is carrying a canoe across land from lake to lake with the canoe on your shoulders, and in this case, it was slightly over 4 miles, mostly uphill, on the portage called the power lines ( a trail that borders the power lines that are within the park) in Algonquin Park Canada.

Last week my best friends mom died from cancer. She left behind her husband and two children, both in high school. She was one of the closest people in my life. This kid was like my brother and seeing him lose the one person that meant everything to him was absolutely devastating. Im really depressed right now over the whole thing. She was athletic, sweet, just an overall awesome and inspiring person. Im sort of holding all of my emotions in and I dont know how to deal with it. RIP/SIP Stephanie.

It might not be the hardest but anyway I live in Golden, CO and I was in Boulder partying but my phone died. I do not know the bus schedule at all and couldn't remember my roommates phone numbers. Also I did want to run but maybe not as far as I did. I tried taking the bus... ended up in westminister. From there i just ran south west ish for about 25-28 miles not really sure. Took me 5 hours (walked a few times) Shit was awesome but I was ready to go to bed when I got back to my appartment. Also I was a bit scared because it was starting to be dark and I still wasn't back in Golden. That huge M for Mines saved my life. I was on the plateau and I saw it and I was so happy. That running was sick but pretty hard.

I've cycled across the united states twice, both times unsupported touring with a fully loaded bicycle weighing about 70 pounds (bicycle plus gear). three climbs come to mind that could qualify as the hardest thing I've ever done
1. utah highway 14 climb from cedar city to brian's head/cedar breaks. 25 mile climb from 5,000 feet to 10,500. ranging in grade from 8% to 16%, never dropped below 8%
2. sacramento, ca to the top of the sierra's (carson pass) on CA highway 88, pretty much sea level to 9,500 feet over 60 miles
3. blue ridge parkway from afton to love virginia, only an 8 mile climb but literally 18%-22% the entire time

My job last summer....

Insulated an entire house on my own, except the week that I did the insulating we had a heat index of +100 everyday.

Closest thing to hell I have ever lived through. Fuckin sweat and fiberglass mixed together, for 6 hours everyday...
