In the last few months i have done allot of flying in private small aircraft. I'm fucking hooked. I think ive got a piper cub in my future, i know its slow as shit but you can take off and land ANYWHERE. Any aspiring pilots out there? What is the one plane you want??

Dustin.Using rudder for coordinated turns drives me fucking insane now. I rarely use rudder anymore, just for BD checks and rejoins occasionally pretty much. In a jet you bank and pull.
Box patterns are super weird for me now too. I've done nothing but overhead patterns from initial for 2 years. 15 degrees of bank around a square is not the same as a 45-60 degree sliceback to final.
And of course I haven't flown any plane with a yoke in forever. Stick is better. Side stick is heavenly.

DIX~Finally got my CPL finished up a week ago, got a few leads on some work but man it's tough. Don't want to instruct until I'm a bit more experienced which doesn't help my cause at all.
What's everyone doing for work this summer?
jcaWhere abouts have you been looking for jobs? I've been hearing most jobs in Ontario and Manitoba have been filled but places further north havent really fired up yet.
I'm in the same boat, got the CPL a couple weeks ago and have been firing out resumes like crazy while waiting for a serviceable plane to do my MIFR ride in (been cancelled 4 times..)
Ideally I'd like a dockhand/flying job at a little float operator but those are hard to come by without being in the right place at the right time or know the right people. I have a couple contacts at ramp/dispatch to fly companies but I'd like to start flying and get some PIC first ideally.
If anyone wants to hire a CPL with Multi Engine, Float, soon to me Group 1 IFR ratings, and IATRA written - Here I am!
DIX~Everywhere. I've got 2 pretty good options at home in Vancouver. I've also heard of openings up north, Whitehorse seems to have a few but most want 500 hours. I think a road trip is the best way to go. I'm waiting around to hear back from the companies here but if not I think I'll pack the car up and head north. Ideal job would be flying a 182 on floats, except I don't even have my rating yet... Do have 200 hours on type though
jcaNice, two hundred hours on type will likely help a lot. Is most of that PIC on your plane?
I just did my float rating at Air Hart in Kelowna, ended up costing $2008. I've heard of a lot of operators just giving you a float rating with training on type though.
DIX~Have to check the cars though cause I thought you needed an instructors rating.
toastyteenagersive been really wanting to fly a plane, not get a license, juat someone who knows more than I to get me in the air and hand over controls, teach me basic maneuvers. i think its legal for a 14 year old to control a plane while supervised by a licensed pilot, right?
