what do you mean when? This is already happening.
I can't believe it when people defend this kind of thing, it's an insult to nature herself. Sure, I'm a hippy because I'd like to stick with the foods we've been eating (and doing very well with) for the past 10,000 years, whatever.
The fact that so few want to even question the fact that Monsanto is saying "we shouldn't even test this stuff, it's not needed" pisses me off. What apathy?! Even if I were a big proponent of GMO's, I'd still want them tested for safety in an objective manner, like ANY OTHER technology. And not just safety from a human standpoint, but from an ecological standpoint as well. How will this screw with the environment? Oh, right, we don't know, because we chose to listen to a corporation who's motivation was hundreds of millions of dollars.
They're making it illegal for farmers to collect their own seed. That's a first, in all of humanity, that's never happened before. The problem is profits.
Sure, I'm fucking crazy for having pretty militantly anticapitalist views, whatever. But when a single corporation controls FOOD, a basic human neccesity, and we're completely at their mercy, that's fucked up. If it weren't for the corporate funded media to cloud our worldviews, people would get wise to this shit and start commandeering farmland and planting heirloom seeds before it's too late.
I'm pissed off that they took our brotherhood.
I'm pissed off that they profit from housing.
I'm pissed off that they stole our ability to love.
And now I'm pissed off that they stole our right to a healthy diet.
No amount of voting could freeze this monster; we're talking direct action here, folks. Organizing mass action against the companies which control the agricultural sector, networking farmers' strikes and contract burn-ins.
But nope, it won't ever happen, people just don't give a shit. Why should they? The couch is fucking comfy, and that velveeta cheese is sooo good. Pass me a beer. Fuck.
