how the hell do all of you walk down stairs in your boots...i usually just sit slide the rail down the staircase at my hill cause i just cannot walk down the stairs and feel safe unless i go sideways

Basically this. My learned how to ski in the park, he didn't went right to the park after getting the bare minimal basics down, and you can tell because theres just something about his turns and stuff on steep or fast runs...basically anything that requires actually control of the skis.

No not at all, I've had so many close calls with boots on.

I basically came out of the womb with ski boots on and I still can't walk in them for shit. Haha.

Just wondering, was it at Wachusett? If it was those floors are terrible to walk on to begin with...

i walk down stairs backwards. not that i cant walk down normally, but i find it so much easier/ more natural. ever notice how much easier it is walking up than it is walking down? its because of which way you face

also, i sometimes carry over the shoulder tips down, but normally i grab them by the middle and half support them in the crook of my arm. it just seems more comfortable to me

For long walk's with skis i prefer the tip down over the shoulder method, but for any that are on snow i go with skis together in right hand dragging along the floor. It pisses off people behind you and you can walk all gangster at the same time.

Yeah my boots have a serious forward lean and I have to walk downstairs on my heels and I look pretty retarded, but I wouldn't say I'm a bad skier, what do you guys mean by bad at walking down stairs? like sideways n stuff? so hard to tell anything here lol.

Mind blown last week at PCMR...... Old school (probably use-to-be-gnarley) dude carrying his skis by hooking his pole baskets under the bindings, allowing him to carry his poles over his shoulder and skis hanging behind his back. His kung fu is strong.

Now folks, I don't wanna sound like a dickhead, but I am about to. The best way to judge a strangers skiing ability, is to..... watch them ski.

However, all of the other things point to how they ski, if you arent on the hill. I've never seen texas briefcase before and from now on, I will carry my skis like this.

false. Tips up for sure.

reason 1: when tips are up you only need to hold 1 ski and the brakes will keep the other from sliding out. with tips down if you hold only 1 ski the other ski will slide out.

reason 2: if they're not twins then it's super easy to grab the tails of the skis over the tips of the skis and thus extend the arm that's holding the skis and support them from the tails, this is the best technique while carrying tele skis since you can do a half wrap of the arm over the skis and grab the tails from the top down so you have an ergonomic ski carrying position that will keep the brakeless tele's from sliding apart.
