i think one of htem is carter beauford in dave matthews band...ive seen them in concert a couple times...carter kicks ass




my mom plucks my ball hair at night when im sleeping and glues them to her eyesbrows cuz she had a terrible camping incident when she was younger and her eyebrows never grew back, shes been doing this since i was 13 im gonna have to start chargin that fat bitch for my hair

im just saying that just because something is 'pop' music doesnt make it bad. ive said it a billion times, there are two kinds of music. good and bad. i think putting labels on stuff, be it punk,grindcore?,pop, etc takes something away from the point of the music.

it is true... good music is good music, but the people that care just about the music, don't generally make music that is going to apeal to the masses. they make the music for themselves, and love of music, not for the millions of teen girls tnat make up the major money making demographic.

well you could also classify things in two categories of 'good' you can be good on an instrument and be able to play really technical stuff and whatever, but that doesn't make you sound good. same thing as skiing. you may be able to pull a pencil 1080 but does that make you a good skier? not really.

yea but songs that are easy to sing along to and catch your attention right away tend to get really boreing the more you hear them.... making you want to buy more music, and keep it going. basicly pop music is simple catchy music, that is easy to get bored of, so that people go out and buy more. in other words 95% of pop music is total crap. made purely as a marketing tool. and don't even get me started on the unorriginality issue. fucking rip off pop musicians.

agreed. in most cases pretty much anyone can learn to play a pop song on an instrument, but you need a natural ability to play something decent.

i think the whole 1080 comparison is true. both drumming and skiing are all about style. and im sure that everyone that has been posted here has a different style, and i think it is really hard to decide who is best because it is not really comparable. like, you cant compare...say ken griffey to michael jordan cuz they play different stuff, same with music.

i think as far as technical skill: danny carrey
rock/somewhat pop style: grohl, or foo fighters drummer, dont know his name
and slower all around: dave matthews drummer

Slayer's all double petal shit, so thats not saying much of anything. And Travis Barker does suck. There's just nothing to it. Good drumming is simple to groove to, but impossible to play. It's not about the bass drum triplets or anything really fast like punk, it's all about stickking things in and pulling them out. It's a hundred times harder to play a seperated down beat than it is to rock at an enormous tempo with a punk beat. ITS ABOUT FUNK!!!!!

No seriously, it's alll about grooooooove.
