you never fucking know. does shit happen? of course it does. cops are people too. they make mistakes, and they can power trip. but when you're put in a position where it's him or you... it's gotta be him. you aren't only protecting yourself, you're protecting the interests of the public. you can't take chances and hope for the best case scenario. if that kid actually had a gun and started shooting, that story could read "15 year old kills 6 people at local middle school"

I didn't mean to start another shit storm in this thread, and i obviously wasn't the cop and have no say. Things went down the way they did and that's that, i feel bad for everyone involved in this messed up situation.


but do you really think a 15 year old with a gun is just as deadly? I've had my fare share shooting guns, but 15 is pretty fucking young and i'm guessing this kid has never shot a gun before, or even held a real gun. I would definitely be a lot more scared if i was facing an armed 30 year old rather then a 15 year old kid.


Also, the kid went into a classroom before the shooting and punched a kid in the nose, told everyone he was going to kill them all and then stormed off. A few minutes later the cops were chasing the kid down telling him to drop the weapon, the kid had plenty of chances to do so and didn't. He had what was coming to him that's for sure

not necessarily, but the point I'm trying to convey is that a gun is still a gun and it doesn't take a genius to figure out how to fire it at someone.

Yes, explain to me how the gun is less deadly in the hands of a 15 year old. If he he shoots you, it is the same exact thing as a 30 year old shooting you. A gun is a gun. Also you realize this occurred in Texas right? Guns are more common there than they are where most people on NS live.

Also I looked on youtube and searched "15 year old shooting a gun" well I found a 10 year old shooting a handgun. You dont think his shot it lethal? Anyone can shoot a gun, and it will always be just as dangerous no matter how old the shooter is.

Obviously you have a high chance of being shot and killed either way, but would you rather deal with a 15 year old or a 30 year old, cause i'd rather deal with the child who might not even no how to turn the safety off and actually aim and shoot.

If you ever get the opportunity, I would like to see you run up and tackle the 15 year old with a gun. Natural selection would come into play.

The cop did his job, he doesn't care if its a 15 year old or a 30 year old. It was the kids fault, he was old enough to know the consequences of his actions and paid for them, he probably wanted to get shot. Suicide by police

I don't think there should even be an argument about this. The police see a person with a gun (regardless of age), ask him to drop it, he doesn't cooperate at all. The cops feel their life could be at danger from a person with a gun, because the man does not cooperate with orders. They shoot him, rather than have the person shoot anyone else.

I think they handled the situation fine. If I'm running with a pellet gun and the police ask me to drop it, and I don't I'm gonna expect to get tazed or shot or something. He was 15 , anyone can realize at 15 that you need to cooperate with police. If the situation happened again, I really don't see what could've been changed to make a better outcome.

I am surprised that the police don't use  robots armed with both lethal and non-lethal weapons for determining and eliminating threats; it would prevent them from having to react so quickly with deadly force, and I am sure that the money saved from even just the counseling costs alone for the cop who actually killed the boy (let alone for the kid's family) would pay for the use of such a device.

a fifteen year-old is now way a child. i'm pretty sure most fifteen year-olds know that you can't point guns at police officers. you can get a permit to drive when your 14. i would hope you knew how flip the safety switch by then. and i've been shooting guns since i was 11, a lot of my friends even earlier than that. the officers did the right thing

To all of the people saying "Taze" the kid.   Whipping out a tazer isn't like pulling out a gun.   You have to be within a certain distance and they are not trained to use them in that circumstance.  And you always shoot at the center of mass, the torso.

Ultimately it was his fault for not putting the gun down, although the bottom line is that it is truly unfortunate that he had to act the way he did, the police acted accordingly to protect themselves and the students.
