Whos going next year?!  possible roommate? i dont want to be stuck with some tool.

Also if you go there what are the fraternities like? would dorms be better or worse?

yeah, there are two clubs; one love ski and snowboard and freeskier society. Freeskier societ is a bunch of dwebs, go with ONE LOVE they are the illest.

PC was like 365 for day 465 day+night and Brighton was 450.

When do you have to register for MUSS? It sounds like it would be worth it for sure. And Im still thinking about which resorts id want passes to... Brighon or PC, Maybe both if I get lucky.. Any recommendations from you guys?

PC is a must and 99% of people will tell you that.


Snowbird, Alta, or Brighton are great choices for non park skiing.

99% of people on NEWSCHOOLERS will tell you that. If you are all about park skiing, then it is a no-brainer, go PC. I really don't like the vibe there, except for gaper day of course. Brighton's park is good enough for me and when you add in the rest of the mountain it is a much better choice for me. Kind of just depends on what youre looking for

It's all 3.2 at grocery stores and Bars, but if you go to a State Liquor store you can get the strong stuff, and obviously hard alcohol.

They also measure it differently though. By all other states standards, our beer actually contains 4% alcohol. So really.. not a big difference.

Yeah... most light beers are 4.5% or less... so you're only missing out on .5% alcohol per beer.

I Have Brighton, PC passes this year, and i have to say, the vibe at PC is a huge put off. Ya, the park is top notch, but all the kids there are super intense, way judgmental, and snobby as shit. Also, the rail setup is pretty intimidating if rails aren't your thing. Personally, i hadn't hit a rail before this year, and i find it really hard to progress my rail game at PC. The vibe at PC is throw down, or get the fuck out. If you like that scene, more power to ya, but i wont be buying a pass there next year.

Places like Brighton and The Canyons both have really awesome, fun vibes that i dig a lot. they don't have the all around great park that PC does, but they do offer fantastic out of park skiing, i.e. tree skiing, powder, steeps (PC doesn't have that) and a more specialized park scene (Brighton=Rails, Canyons=Jumps).

This is just my cut on it though, id say get here, see what you can afford and what your friends are doing, jump on a pass to somewhere, and just deal hunt for tickets the rest of the year to experience every mountain the Wasatch has to offer. They are definitely out there, and they are so worth it.

and FYI, of you do go to PC, for the love of god, don't buy a Cobra Dog.... The most expensive diarrhea I've ever had

I feel like you had a very rare experience. The vibe at PC is awesome. Everybody up there is just having fun and messing around. It might be a little intimidating because so many kids are so good but they're not judging you. Don't get scared, get stoked! Brighton's the place where somebody might say shit to you with all the douche ass gypsy boarders.

Also, don't you talk that way about Cobra Dogs again. Ever.

I don't get why everyone gets such a bad vibe from PC... I have alot of fun every time i go and i dont "throw down or get the fuck out". Im sorry you havent had fun at pc, but its the best place to ski park.

When I went to PC, it wasn't that it was "throw down or get the fuck out", it was more that the kids there are unbelievably raw. The other thing that threw me off at first was all of the same orage jackets (found out about the ski team thing later on...)

Yeah it's a little intimidating when you first go there and everyone is throwing down. But nobody ever says anything to make you feel like you aren't good enough to be there. Everyone just has fun

that's what i'm talking about it's not a competition unless you make it like that, and its only not fun if you don't want it to be. besides that PC is a sick mountain to go to because you can just get on the lift with anybody and they'll be chill. in fact i think i rode the lift with you, considering you're the only evan from montana i've met this year.

I've definitely had some good, fun days at PC, dont get me wrong. It's just the vibe i get from the people there is negative. Maybe its just that I haven't experienced anything as intense as PC, but there are definitely a good amount of kids who think you're inferior because they are better than you. That, to me, sucks. I'm always stoked to go skiing, but the stoke leaves quickly when you are constantly getting cut off, judgmental looks, and see dad's yelling at their little girls because she fell on a trick (maybe that was an isolated incident, but still, ruined my day)

I encourage all new Utah students to experience every resort they can, including Park City, I'm just sharing my experience.

I dunno man, I never get that feeling. The whole thing with you getting "cut off" might be different, PC is definitely like "you're not going? im going" kind of deal. Its not that people think theyre better than you and just go before you, just alot of people like to hot lap and sometimes wont stop once through their run. I hate nothing more than a bunch of snowboarders and gapers sitting at the top of a run "waiting" to go, so I usually just go around. Plus, people who know each other definitely will drop right behind each other. You definitely have to keep an eye out when its mad crowded at PC. as for the looks, i dont think its as bad as youre imagining it to be, but thats your own opinion. I think if i saw a dad yelling at his kid about a trick i would laugh, guess thats just me.

gas will never be that expensive in utah, we have oil refineries right outside the city.

But I actually had a buddy who had a mini van that drove up like 3-4 times a week and would just keep track of people riding in his car and had "the list" and would charge like 2-3 bucks a head (depending on how many people were in the car) and it worked great, one of our friends had like a 80 dollar tab at the end ha. But i drove up a few times myself too it was legit. You spend maybe 8 bucks in a high mpg car and 10-12 in an suv or something similar.

I can only shred on the weekend because of my schedule but if it wasn't so shitty I could find a ride up every single day if I wanted too. Also just find people to drive with/drive people and charge a litttle money for rides. It's not that bad at all. I got a Brighton pass and I'm not sure whether it was just because this was a bad winter or not but I didn't really like it that much I'm probably buying a PC pass next year. In fact I found a pass for the end of the season for $50 dollars and it's chill. The best part is that the lifties give 0 shits about whose pass you are using as long as everyone isn't calling your name

while this isnt quite true. You probably can make sure your taking your highest math class as you have to be ready for 1210 CALC I in order to enroll in the ME program.

Anyone else doing engineering?

haha yeahhh id say bump that up man.  I'm living in the apartments now and still have a 12 meal plan (and i have a full kitchen).  WIth the dorms its super hard to cook decent food and the HC is crazy convenient.  I think I did 19 freshman year, and it was perfect.  You also get transfer meals so you can eat at the union during your breaks from class or you can just get free soda/chips/snacks whenever you want for free

with trasnfer meals and such, 19 is nice. i dunno how they do it anymore, but the 15 meal plan was more expensive than 19 cause it had some special bullshit perk, so i got the 19. i never used all of them, probably only used 2 a day, some days 3, always had 4-5 left at the end of the week though.

ski utah sells both a silver and gold pass and a one day at every resort pass
and the cottonwood canyons foundation also sells a 30@ each resort combo pass

yes, but like i already said in this thread, when people think combo pass they think "cheap pass for multiple mountains". Buying alta bird is pretty much the same price as buying them both separately (i think there is a small savings? not very significant) so you're basically just getting the passes on the same card.

and duh silver/gold/30 day passes exist, but they cost thousands of dollars, theyre made for rich people and businesses.
