Doing a 40 feet long jump?

Tomorrow I want to try a jump of 40 feet long by 15 feet high.
If my speed is not high enough, then I get very bad landing and get hurt?

Depends on what the landing is like along with the jump. The harder you come down and the flatter the landing the more hurt you will get.

I don't think that's quite 40 feet. But I suppose it would be best to go too fast to start off with, or just watch people for w while to get a feel for the speed. Just commit dude!

just keep in mind that its a lot harder to go too far than it is to go too short. so dont go in thinking your going too fast and then scrub your speed, cause thats how you BREAK YOUR ANKLES. go fast.

This. So at least you get an idea of how much speed you need. Also, it's better to have a bit more speed then a bit less because knuckling a 40 sucks (happened to me).

No. That's stupid. Landing on the deck will sprain or break your ankles, while over shooting a jump of this size could land you a room in the hospital.

You'll be fine. If I had a nickel for every 40 footer I've cased I'd have a shit ton of nickels. Your toes and back will prefer it if you land on the sweet spot, but you won't kill yourself unless you really really misjudge the speed. Just follow somebody in and you'll be fine.

Um breaking both your ankles will still land you in the hospital. pretty hard to walk it off when your feet aren't at the bottom of your legs any more.

dude just warm up from small to large and if you are feeling it on the 30 then go to the 40

but when you try a new thing watch other people do it.

also dont be retard, stay centered and dont forget to pop like any other jump and you will be fine, it will all come down to if you dont wus out before doing it.

I'm thinking that if you feel the need to ask newschoolers about how you should hit a jump this big, you might want to wait a bit. But if not, try following someones speed, and go of the jump with a wide stance.
