Squaw Valley is having their worst winter possibly ever. With a near zero inch base and only sun/warmth in the 14 day forecast, SF Times reports they might file for natural disaster insurance relief.

I remember 2004/2005, Washington did not have a winter (until April). Seems like the Sierras are suffering a similar fate. I feel for you guys, just don't come up north.

Most areas in the US are having this problem, utah has barely received like 90" so far this year... mammoth got 24 ft in december and they got maybe 24 inches this december...

Its not great up here in MT, but we have had some pow days the last two weeks and enough base for the whole mountain to be open. Nowhere near like last year. I have faith though, its a comin!

hood has a decent base. at 60 inc. but still its need to snow.. we went for 4 weeks with out snow then a foot. now no snow till friday. hopefully

Yeah it's been sucking everywhere but hang in there. I actually think that feb-march are gonna be banner. Basing that off alot of factors but I look at everything, including space weather. The solar maximum we are currently in is the likely culprit and even though we've seen alot of moisture so far, I'm of the opinion that it's not nearly the amount expected for this year. If what I'm looking at continues, it appears to me that there will be a drop off in solar activity around the second or third week in january and shy of your typical solar storm here and there, it looks like it'll stay fairly quiet into march before it ramps back up again. If all the moisture we have been expecting comes out of the pacific around the same time we are going to see record snowfalls. I get it though. The resorts are hurting due to drastically shortened seasons but as far as skiing goes, it could be a decent two months.

Yeah last year was tragic. We got to the airport and decided not to board our flight to Geneva an hour before take off, and got a flight to Norway instead, it was that bad.

2007 was the worst year though. There was 1 run, and one lift open in Cauterets

Damn, at first, I thought all of this 'Don't go to Tahoe, there's no snow' talk throughout the season was to keep people from encroaching on epic powder.  I never investigated it too deeply, and it's sad to hear that it's true. 

On the bright side, 2012 has brought something like Winter into the East Coast... hopefully it's here to stay.
