DSLR sensor question.

Im pretty sure i know the answer to this already but i thought i might ask for confirmation.

I am getting a small (like 1px small) red dot that is really faint on the left hand side of all of my footage when I film with my 7D. Do I have a dead pixel in the sensor or what do you guys think might be going on?

Could just be a hot pixel. It might just go away after a while. Google "how to fix a hot pixel" and you should find some stuff.

if its black its usually dead but if its red its usually hot, so there might be some hope

I did a manual sensor clean for 60 seconds and it seems to have worked. thanks guys.

it was weird because it was only in certain shots (like 20 in a row then would stop and come back after a few) but now it seems to be completely gone now.

Yea definitely a hot pixel. It has something to do with the pixels "leaking" energy I think. I don't really know what causes them.
