just got the 4frnt crj for christmas :) problem is i have no idea wat their deal is, how they should be ridden etc. any tips would be appreciated! and i leave for niseko in 2 days so im hoping they'll be suited for that. thanks
never skied them but believe they were designed by cr for his type of skiing, so think it is for charging in the pow and all mountain shredding, not so good for the park i believe
from a website: CR Johnson Memorial Skis 2012: It’s hard to forget a ski legend like CR Johnson, but stomping the backcountry on the meticulously designed 4FRNT CR Johnson Memorial Skis could be the best way to make sure you don’t. We’re willing to bet that CRJ would be stoked about his memorial skis too because with each purchase 4FRNT gives $100 to traumatic brain injury victims so they can “love the life they live” like CR did. The CR Johnson Memorial Skis have seen little change since he poured his soul into designing that last ones, but the wood core and Rocker/Camber profile have buttery flex in pow and an ogre-strong grip in chalky chop that make the whole mountain your playground, just as CR intended.
I have CRJs and ski them pretty regularly.
PROS: soft/fun flex, very surfy in powder, the rocker is subtle and effective without being retardedly big, skis switch pretty well
CONS: kinda difficult to turn over/link turns on when things get choppy- this is mostly due to the shape of the nose with the widest point being closer to your boot than most skis.
All in all you'll probably love em if you're gonna be skiing pow and like to hit drops, cliffs, etc.
Bring them in the fresh powder. Use other sticks when theres been a few days between dumps. Best use. Be relaxed and centered enjoy!! The ski will do all the work. You just have to steer them. If you try and ski them like a narrow board youll over power them. Just nice and relaxed and you can stay centered. Dont lean forward or back. I skied the CRJ and own EP pros. Same idea. at 120+ under foot you just slash turns and let the ski ride. Hard packed doable but really only to get ya down from the trees or bowls.
