What is the most pain you've ever been in?

for me it would probably be the immediate pain from when i was backed over by a boat this summer resulting in me having to get my leg amputated, i broke my tibia in 2 spots, the bottom of my femur, shattered my calcaneous broke a toe (it was cut in half) and like 4 or 5 bones in my foot, i also had 4 very large wounds aswell as a dangling toe that had been cut. it really sucked.

As for me I haven't had one specific episode that really sticks out *knock on wood* but one that I can think of right now is when I overshot the landing of a jump by 20ft (stupid I know) and landed on my hip. Couldn't walk for a few days but no lasting injury thankfully

I hope you're doing alright now because that is a terrible thing to have happen.

I mean, I've broken bones before but once I had like a 2nd-3rd degree burn all over my hand and for some reason that was the most painful thing ever. I would've expected some other gnarly thing that's happened to me to hurt a lot more but really that one hurt the most.

OP - how in the fuck did you get backed over by a boat? That sounds fucking brutal, dude. I hope you're able to regain somewhat of a "normal" life. god, that's just insane man. i wish you the best.

I'd say that the most pain I've ever been in was right before my appendix burst. it literally had me keeled over in a fetal position.

When my appendix decided to go ahead and try to explode. Or when I broke both bones in my arm directly in half and then tried to pick up my arm and it just flopped.

coming off the anesthetic from surgery on my shoulder. the doctor was removing a plate and forgot a screw so started hammering it thinking the bone had just grown around a bit then his assistant pointed out there was an extra screw. It was one of those pains that if it was any worse at all I would have blacked out. completely unbearable even drugged up.

underrotating a corked 5 at breck and tearing my ACL all the way through and MCL halfway through in one awful moment. that fuckin hurt.

my tattoos down my ribs hurt a lot too, but i don't think that's valid since i did it to myself on purpose

Having my arm rebroken and reset in the ER after I ate shit on my longboard.  They didnt even knock me out either which sucked.   The numbing shit didnt work at all

I fell off my horse and landed in front of him, he jumped over me to get out of the way and his back two feet came down on my arm. He weighs 1800 lbs. Detached half my tricep, torn rotator cuff, torn bicep and a bunch of other little ligaments and muscles. To this day can't raise my arm all the way above my head.
Here is a pic, this was the same day it happened, last time I was able to lift my arm for 6 months. You can see the outline of his hoof right up by my armpit. Never was able to get better pics of when my entire arm turned black because I couldn't lift it, but you get the idea.

I had some cocaine, no biggie, have it all the time.
Then managed to step into a nail, and never notice it for the entire night partying, until the party ended next morning.

The nail had gone straigth through the leather sole and top part of my Santoni monks (poor shoes)
Now this was pretty painful but when I arrived in the hospital, they had to pull it out without anesthesia.

I want to hear way more about what it's like to have an amputated limb more so than about anyone else's pain story.

How hard was it to re-adjust to life with the loss?

Do you ski or do any other activities you used to with prosthetics?

Also, worst pain was infected/cracked tooth that I didn't take care of and waited until it began infecting my brain until I did anything about it. I'm not sure what was worse, the unbearable headaches before I got it removed or the process of removal where they literally just tried to break it into pieces in my mouth to take it out.

Fuck that.

i compound fractured my tibia and fibula playing rugby. The bone didnt break skin, but it looked and felt really close to it.

woah thats mad weird, my friend just came back to school after that exact surgery.

my worst injury was probably when i was like body surfing in cape cod, and a GIANT wave picked me up, it brought me down straight into the rocky sand and i got blacked out. when i woke up the life guard was checkin to make sure i was ok and there were rocks embedded in my chest.

worst pain long term would be a pretty bad road rash i got from my longboard, that shit kept tearing back open for weeks to follow....

worst pain momentarily would've been when i was riding my bike and got clipped by a truck, fell with my back onto the curb and bruised one of my kidney, i felt like all my internal organs were about to burst ...

awkwardly, for as far as i've had broken bones (1x ankle, 3x arm) they didn't really hurt that bad (except for the terrible itch inside the cast) ...

I gotta say, i was expecting something lite, from the OP. I had to re read it several times. My jaw literally dropped. Hope you're doing well.


Errrrrrrr i suppose it was while skiing. Light was flat and i was coming out of a tree run. Instead of putting in a few more turns i just pinned it out, didn't see this bank of snow, hit it, flew through air, and landed a few seconds later. It just hurt to move, (even breathe) for days.

I landed on my shoulder, but instead of breaking the collarbone, the muscle just over stretched. Wish the bone had broken, as it'd been a quicker recovery (apparently).

That feeling that no one will ever truly accept you for who you are, I had that for a long time. I played roles day to day, my mental character was unstable, and I was utterly alone. I was a transient between families, away from my grandparents who had raised me, with an abusive stepdad, a mother I didn't know, and the knowledge that my father was probably dead and hated me. To add to it, I was at the very beginning of a painful understanding of my true nature as a bisexual, a road I didn't stabilize with until the past four months.
Sorry, but that pain was worse than any physical feeling.
Luckily, I have an incredible network of truly open minded, accepting, and loving friends that have coaxed me from recluse and into my true self. I am truly happy for the first time in my entire life, and I am so thankful.

Not necessarily painful, as i was on laughing gas and Novocaine, but when i got my last teeth pulled a couple things happened.

1.) Their laughing gas was weak so they had to up the dosage and i had to wait longer to get the shots in my gums for the novocaine (most painful part of the process, but not what this is about). It feels like someone is pinching your gums with a tweezers for those who havent had it done before

2.) I was getting 4 teeth pulled (fml). the first one went fine, it was a little stubborn but nbd. The second one shattered when it came out. Not really painful,but it freaked me the fuck out because it sounded so fucking scary. third tooth was really stubborn. Like super fucking stubborn. It broke the fucking pliers they use to get it out, thats how in it was. After they found another pliers, they took the fourth tooth out which was pretty normal.


needless to say, it wasnt as painful as just scary as fuck


i cant really remember a single point of pain that was the most intense, i tend to forget that kind of thing
