This. When I was learning new tricks I just set in my mind that I was going to commit and do it. I didn't land the new tricks the first time I tried them but it made it a whole lot easier to progress.

Just stay confident. Dont think about ways you can fall and hurt yourself. Just think of how your going to land the trick.

Idk about you all but when i slam pretty hard and get back up im ALWAYS like "you know what that wasnt that bad, hurt for a few seconds but im good brah!"

One thing that might also help is to have your friends with you when your trying to stomp. I know that many people doesnt like the idea of telling someone what kind of trick they are going for, but I find it totally opposite. Tell them that youre thinking of trying that trick on this kicker and hear if they approve or not, but keep in mind, only you can tell yourself if this is really a go or no go. Ask if you can be the first to drop in, this puts more weight on your shoulders and kinda help you with overcoming the fear, youve said youre going for it, you cant back out now like a chicken. To hear all of your friends behind you cheering for you as you drop in is a major confidence booster. I find that I also helps increase the adrenaline, therefore it helps me with fear in a way. I dont know if this sounds silly or not, but its just an experience that I had. Try not to care to much about other people either, if you fall, great! Atleast you had the guts to try it and most of the time youll be like "aww, I almost had it", which hopefully will be enough to make you wanna send it one more time. Freeskiing is an extreme sport and if you wanna send it, fear will always be a factor. Its up to you how youll overcome it, the reward is something quite extraordinary, believe me. Good luck.

I usually go slow the first time and fuck myself over, but I guess I get a little more comfortable and the second round is better. Then its just getting used to falling for the next day and then I eventually get it. But you'll never learn something if you don't try- just go for it, you gotta risk it to get the biscuit.

I'm scared shitless to try new stuff, but mostly because I have broken many bones and missed a few seasons trying new things. Injuries kinda shit on your confidence

for me I just force myself to try the trick and usually I take a hit, but I need that hit to get me warmed up and I'm usually good to go after that. haha sometimes a nice body smack is what I need to get me ready

Watching someone else do the trick (youtube) or at the Park is a great way to see how it is done.
Then once you see it being done, try it yourself on a trampoline. It may take some time to actually land it, but as you are trying it, notice where you land, and try harder to rotate faster or slower depending on your landing position.
Then go out with your skis on a powder day, make a nice poppy powder jump and try your new trick.
Once you successfully land it into powder, you're now ready to land it in the park.
Dont over think it because if you over think, you'll most likely psych yourself out.
Has happened to me alot!!

For jumps I am really cautious trying new tricks. I'm pretty huge and can't get my rotations around very fast so every time I add another 180 degrees to my rotation I have to step up to a bigger jump and I could seriously get hurt. I can't do 540's off 10 footers in the kiddy park like a lot of people seem to be able to.

For rails though, I just think about the old saying that you can't get hurt in the air. Say you are hitting a rail , you are comfortable on it, and you want to try a 270 off or sw up or whatever. You've probably fallen off the rail before, you aren't going to get more hurt because you were trying something. So you might as well try something if you are going to fall anyway. Its only 5-10 feet to the snow and you'll be fine.
