i went to this movie last night... beyond epic.. its so realistic, like almost exactly how they would do it in real life on real missions.. definitely go and see it
Well he certainly ain't a SEAL so even if he is he probably has no better idea than any of us. You can learn a fair bit if you read enough memoirs but more than likely it's COD experience he's drawing on...
saw it today with my step dad who's an ex-navy seal and thought it was pretty good. the action scenes get pretty intense. definitely not as good or intense as blackhawk down, but still a quality and worth seeing on the big screen movie
DUDE I have to go fucking see this movie. I never go watch movies or even watch TV but one of my buddies is in a scene apparently. I WILL SEE YOU MIKE.
I just watched this... i dont even know what to think, it was kind of weird, the tactical aspect of it was awesome, but it just didnt feel like a regular movie movie.... hard to explain. I don't know if it was just the intense propaganda aspect of it or what. I hated that while they seemed to be trying to fight cliche by making it as accurate as possible, they had to chuck in the age old slow motion and quiet ear ringing scenes, not to mention the character who gets shot 8 times and survives. Plausible? of course, but since its in way to many war films, coulda been left out.
I thought it was a great movie. Those people did exactly what they set out to create. I've read soooo many books on this subject and many other aspects of the military and this movie looks very accurate and if you went into it expecting good acting you're dumb, this is so much more like a documentary or depiction and not like a regular feature film. But watching that interrogator guy was fucking awesome and that's such a true, real part of the film because i have met a couple guys that do that for a living and they are so good at what they do that it's not even funny. You cannot possibly lie to their face. Incredible all around.
'MERICA!
The whole interogation scenes i was thinking to myself "in real life im sure we dont say oh yeah ur children will be fine we would never touch them" we are prolly like "yo dawg im gonna let Dirty Mike and the boys run train on your 7 year old daughter and then cut your wifes face off and wear it around you like a mask".....the interrogator was wayy too nice. But this movie was sick but kinda cought me off gaurd the sad scene at the end.
Being friendly intimidating is always better than cruelty. Something about a man who is able to maintain a upright, friendly manner while promising untold horror is much worse
looks like your marine heroes should be fighting for higher education instead of some multi-billion dollar grudge to kill one fucking guy. sick priorities, america.
I saw it and honestly I thought it was badass, definitely different than the usually war movie but I thought it was a lot more real than usuall. You can tell that some of them weren't actors at points. Oh and I saw it at the annapolis mall, so half of the theater were naval academy midshipmen... some future seals. And I just wanted to salute those dudes for what they are going to do for our country in the future. And if they were watching that with a chick... they should be getting laid that night no doubt.
These guys have breaks, they don't fight a war everyday of their lives. Every one of them would be dead by now if they dead. And have you seen half of the movies and tv shows created today, those actors look like a bunch of monkeys trying to hump a door knob at the same time... seriously its horrible. They weren't that great of actors. But honestly give these guys some respect, they deserve some time off for the shit they do for this country. And having a gig for a some extra money on the side is what they need. They aren't getting paid nearly enough for the amount of the shit they have to go through.
that is true, we appear as heroes of the world, but it is true that we have the ability with our military power that we can help many people around the world so while we may make bad decisions as a country, i will back the decisions we make and i hope and pray that we can turn our country around and make us a country that is respected around the world.
hell yeah propaganda. thats the kind of stuff they show us during our introduction day before we enroll for our compulsory 5month of Army duty (Switzerland).
Thats cool, nothing that bugs me more than people that know all about war without ever having experienced it. I know nothing about "tactics" and stuff like that but I don't pretend to.
I'm the assistant post supervisor on Act of Valor, and the biggest thing that DSLRs allowed us two do on this movie was work extremely fast on set. Since we were working with the Navy on many of the action sequences, we had to be able to get the most footage possible in the limited amount of time we had their equipment. There were often 9 cameras rolling between 8 camera ops. If we had tried to cram 9 Epics or 35mm cameras and their support teams into a nuclear submarine, it just wouldn't have worked.
The post workflow, however, for a feature shot primarily on 5D was an adventure in itself.
Strictly from a technical aspect, I'm impressed by the images they achieved in their DSLR shots. Aside from that, this movie looks like every other piece of crap playing in theatres these days. PASS.
To address the question of "why aren't they fighting in the war?"; they filmed this movie around their deployment schedule. And not everyone needs higher education to make a difference in this world either. I'm sure you are a dumb 17 year old kid who is brainwashed into thinking college is the only way to be successful.
I agree whole-heartedly. For example; those crazy muslims who strap bombs to themselves and go get more done in a day than the American soldiers who are off filming a 2 hour long recruitment promotion.
