MinggYou wanna know what we do? We load for 20-30 minutes. Shovel for 10. Sit inside for 20. Then load again and we do that for 2/3 of our shift. For the other 2-3 hours we sit at the top and watch people get off and write down the times and reasons for stopping the lift. It is honestly so easy. You're doing actual work for 1/3 of your shift. If you can't handle this job then you fail at fucking life.

yep, and when I started out I made $7.75. Times are a'changin. They raised it not only due to the min wage increase but also because they thought it would bring in higher quality liftys. Sadly that wasn't the case. Bunch of fucking idiots this year

Are restaurant jobs just impossible to get in a ski town then, because with tips and shit I started at 10-12 dollars an hour just bussing tables in my home town
the vast majority of people here are seasonal and leave when the winter is over. this town loses over half of its population between winter and summer and during the off season there are less than 300 people who stick around.
I was a manager for 3 lifts and only got paid $8.50 in maine. Lifties were getting paid 7.50 to bust ass on icy ramps, make ramps with no snow, and provide excellent guest service. Its also a high injury job with potential for death if you are shoveling in the portal/pit.

You can get by but barely. Don't plan on getting anything into savings and plan on visiting the food bank which is expected that you go visit while working for the resort.

Lol deer valley liftys make 12/hr, obviously other resort companies have other plans in mind, like vail.

Its really not bout the Pay for Me, honestly. sure, it definitely Helps. but being able to take laps, spread stoke, and be around skiing all day while getting some decent change from it makes all the sense in the world. Its obviously not a career choice for Me, but for the time being, its a Damn good Time.
People get to choose their occupations in life, which makes it awesome. Some want to make tons of money and be burnt out from Working 60 hr weeks or whatever, and others want to Have a good time and make Decent money. i honestly Dont get why people act like liftying is slavery.
