Anyone else unhappy with themselves this season?

 So this season I basically had the intentions on skiing A LOT and learning A LOT.  It didn't go that way,  this year was my first season trying to progress hard in the park.  My first day on snow I was throwing threes pretty much consistently In the little park under the lift at Okemo I think its called Timberline or something.  It was the day before they opened there big Jump line.  (this was the Christmas eve)  I went for a 540 and cought an enge on the lip and basicaly did a 3 onto my face and shoulder and tour my ac joint or whatever.  This is this is the problem Im going to college on a scholarship for Pitching next school year so I had to stop skiiing till I healed up in mid feb.  So a couple friends from work built a really sweet setup on a hill on long island and I skied there for about a month hitting rails and corrugated pipes wich helpen me learn  fs 270 outs.  Then I had a trip to Pa in late feb where the 2nd run on the first day I hit a UFD and i tried to air to the down.  upon landing on the down I stuck BAD and ate shit so hard and could put pressure on my knee the next day.  So I took it easy the rest of the trip and then Baseball season started..... So this year didn't go as planned.  Anyone else have a similiar season?

As far as park progression goes? Yeah sorta. But who cares man? I skied with good friends and had so much fun. We just explored the mountain and jumped off dumb shit.

As far as days on the mountain? I got plenty. It's a bummer you didn't many days. Sounds like baseball is more important to you than skiing. I dunno if that's right or not, but that'd be why you didn't get many days on the snow. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to ski a lot. Skiing is a time-intensive sport. I gave up playing 2 sports (hockey and track) at the varsity level so I could ski more. I'm not necessarily saying you should do the same, but it's something to ponder.

The last few seasons i've sort of become a weekend warrior, so i guess the only complaints i have is i wish i had made it to the mountain more. Other then that i was pretty stoked on this season, and i should be able to make it out more next year so thats good haha.

That's about what I came to post.

I would have liked to learn more and do more, but I for sure had a good season, and it's not over for me yet. I plan on doing a lot of wasatch exploring until the snow is gone.

What you said is 100 PERCENT true.  Baseball got me into college and from here on out unless pro scouts start giving me more looks next winter im saying fuck baseball if i get hurt im hurt but im gunna ski was more.

I had a killer time on the hill dont get me wrong but the progression I wanted wasn't there.

For sure. It's always a bummer to not learn the tricks that you plan on learnin. One thing I always do, instead of setting season-long goals, is just try and do one new thing every day. It might be a new grab, a new cliff, a new run, a new tap, or a somewhat easy trick like a frontside 270 out but on a harder rail.

Im actually extraordinarily happy about this season. My season goals were a 720, and 270s on. Before the beginning of the season i had not intention of flipping except for fronts but yet i got rodeo 5s, lincolns, and flat 3s. I also got 7s, switch 5s, 2s on, backside switchups on rails, kfeds on rails, 450s out of all rails, and 2 pretz 2 on flat boxes. Oh and with the spins i got mutes, tail, japan, liu kang on threes, and maybe one blunt but i wont claim it

Last season i could: Fs switchup, kfed on boxes, 180 on flat box 180 off, 3s and 5s all ungrabbed

well i did progress in park ( i got more balls) im hitting bigger jumps doing harder boxes and hitting sketchier rails. But where i really progessed is pow and chute (bc stuff) now i can rip stone creek and almost be the leader of the pack in a pow day :)

I broke my collarbone and that ruined my chances of winning provincials for sort of highschool racing. Other than that I was stoked on the season.

I'm  happy with my progression this year.  Was able to dial in the shit i wanted to focus on.

It's easy to question your progression and become discouraged when you find yourself lapping park with people that are MAD good.  But that can be the very thing that drives you to get better.  I always tell myself "how bad do you want to learn this trick?", because that's what seperates the people that sack up and hit, and the ones that change their minds and ski around the feature.

I learned so much this year, but at the start of spring skiing I broke my collarbone :( I was so pissed afterwards I cried no joke. Spring skiing is my favorite part of the skiing season, and I almost blew it but its been 3 weeks since and my collarbone is so much better. Good thing my mountains are open till middle of May so I can get back and continue hitting rails and hucks. Next season I wanna start learning misty's and 450's off rails, But if I come back this season, I wanna try doing the Mal Chinko. Looks like such a steez trick.

Thanks for the -k  yes I noticed.  I meant Im not willing to give up skiing to Play baseball when i'll most likely be red shirted or something.  This thread is about skiing not baseball,  Playing at a school named adelphi in ny

somebody cares a bit to much about karma... but i did the same thing to my ac joint and i pitch in high school as well. I used those bands in the weightroom(big rubber bands) and did all kinds of shoulder exercises and it feels better now. definately a painful injury though

i didnt do it, but you seriously care about karma? this is a fucking website that has no bearing on your life. go ahead and lower mine, i couldnt care less.

and you have a chance to play baseball, something you cant do after college(adult leagues suck, and semi pro is just summer), you can ski for the rest of your life. why wouldnt you dedicate yourself to something that you can only do know?

I was kidding about the karma I just randomly looked and noticed.   You care way to much about what I'm doing.  I'm Playing im just not going to give up skiing during college just to do it.  If I get hurt I lose my scholarship.  Im also In ROTC so it doesnt matter if I lose it.  I can't be a bitch and not ski just because theres a chance I can get hurt.  When you love something this much your going to do it.   And to the kid who got hurt also,  Yea it sucks but luckily its a quick recovery.  Im lucky to not have shoulder problems so far this season.  Topped 89 last game wooo

I wanted rodeo 5s, I learned rodeo 5s. As long as you can set realistic goals for yourself and are at the hill enough to get comfortable with something, you will most likely learn it.

i still have a couple of hike days, but my season went great. i skied more than i ever had, the season started earlier and ended later, i learned 5s, 7s, backflips, blind + front swtichups, 2s out, grabs with spins. oh yeah and skiied a bunch of pow. such a fun season. sad it's ending though

i started throwing shit too late and the only new trick i learned was flat 3 which i only landed once. im gonna work on my rails this summer and tramp the living shit out of myself and hopefully ill be less of a pussy next year.

Improved tons..too bad it wasn't in the park like I wanted. But it worked it cause around here the back country is 10 times better than the hill so I'm stoked and decent at that. Hopefully Camp of Champs this summer for park

With a lot of things in life it seems that you look back and wish you did it one better or that things went a little differently.
Broke my knee early Feb and have def played the "what if" game in my head and wondered how things would be now if that crash and subsequent and acl tear never happened, but dwelling on that is not good for the head.
I can recall fun days, instances, and even short moments in the months prior that helped me realize how much fun I had then, and that in the future I can ski again.

wanted to get more inverted things down, didn't really make that goal. Whatever though, I had probably the best year of my life and definetely upped my game a lot. And I still have time to get some sort of flip down.

i improved my rail game alot... got some of the andy parry tricks down, 270's on, and the switchups i could already do

jumps on the otherhand i didnt learn anything. i went into the season hoping to learn backflips frontflips and lincolns but that didnt happen. i went into the season able to 5 and ended the season that way

I went on a box at mt. crrek in nj and it was pretty tall...i fell hard and had a triple fractur in my wrist and was out for the whole seasn...it sucked
