The Infamous Q: What size JJ?

I'm pretty short and not growing like 5'5"-5'6" 145. I ski a 173 chronic and I love them and have no problem ripping them anywhere or controlling them in the park. I feel like I could go 185 jj because of the early rise but i will want to but i don't want them to feel super long especially because I love backflips.

give me your two cents and don't just call me a bitch for not going 185 because i am a short bastard. my chronics are significantly taller than me esp when i am in ski boots with my knees naturally bent.

hmmm... if you are growing for get 185's, but if not 175's would be fine and you can get them a lot cheaper. I got 185's when i was like 5'8 and they felt big but now im like 6 foot and they feel perfect.

alright i am leaning towards the 175 because i like to make short quick turns in trees so they'd probably be better

If you are done growing get the 175 for sure. But if you still have a few inches get the 185, it would be a shame to by a 675 dollar ski to short!

No, they will be perfect, since they have tip/tail rocker. And im 5'10 and i have 179 fujas and they are perfect

how much do you weigh. why are they too short, do you just tip dive a lot and not get enough float?

Hell if you're 5' 6" and done growing definitely go with the 175's. I'm 6' 1" 200 and I'm skiing 178 skis so you should be fine.

He's over exagerating but due to tail and tip rocker only ~130 cm of the ski is actually touching the ground.  And get the 185s you can handle them.

i know i can but do you really think its worth it because im pretty light so the float isn't necessarly worth it. it rather just have a smaller ski to rip around tree..idk

I honestly dont think you can go wrong with either size. The 175s will work for you, but if youre a pretty good skier youll most likely want the 185s in a year or two.

Remember this timeless motto - Short skis suck, long skis truck.

i was 5'8" and had 175 JJ and alwys wished i had 185s... you wont be disappointed.. just go bigger.. trust me.. dont hesitate just go for the 185..

I am 150lbs, they are too short when im dropping cliff. I dont have much tail, since you mount them at recommended.

wait this but mount them closer to centre.. so get the 185s and mount them like 1.5 or 2cm back from center...

ya im going to mount -2 regardless of which pair i get. i may have a killer deal on some 175s that i may not be able to pass up

I'm like 5'5 and around 120lbs, I've been this size for a while and I'm 19 now. I actually ski chronics, but 166cm, although I totally could move up to 171 or whatever they come in now. So short, skinny and not growing like you. I've been skiing for a while so I'm a pretty good skier.

When I went to colorado and rode at loveland I rented JJs like twice, only rockered pow ski I've ever ridden. I believe I rode the 185s both times and they were fine, initially I thought they were gonna be a bit big. I actually had one of the best tree runs I've ever had on them (aka like 1 of 20 ever). They were easy to smear around tight turns in tight spots, from the rocker I guess. I had no problem with carving them on open slopes or controlling them at all. They definitely ski shorter. They're a ton of fun on packed snow, they butter nice if you lean over the rocker. So I'd say go for it. Go a bit of pow on them too, obviously they float. The do get sketchy going mach 10 down chunky stuff, but that's expected.

Well I'm pretty sure last year when I first got 185 JJs I only weighed ~143 lbs and the 185 was definitely not too much to handle, though I was 6'. Honestly you're not going to have any problems with the 185 the tapered tails make them heavenly in the trees and you will be able to make turns as quickly as you desire with the 185. Also, DO NOT MOUNT THEM AT -2!!!! Mount them at recommended, which is -5. The side cut of the skis are shaped to be skied at -5 and they will not perform quite as well if you mount them forward. I asked my shop last year because I was thinking the same thing and they vehemently disagreed and told me that they just aren't meant to really be mounted significantly forward of recommended. They are still boss switch and plenty jibby at -5 I promise.

have you demoed the ski? I dont know if you have any shops that sell armada or demo the gear but I'm sure that would be the first priority. If you get the 175 it will be perfect for you and your dimensions currently. I would say that it is easier to get rid of a 185 JJ should you want to downsize to the 174. It will be the exact opposite should you want to upgrade.

Im 5 feet 1 inch and weigh 95, should i go with the vjj 165 or see if i can make it into the size bigger, im not done growing at all and dont want to spend a ton and have to rebuy next year.

Actually they are making a 165 mens JJ next year so you wouldn't have to ski a women's ski... but wait till September and see how big you are if you're to ~5'4" and ~120 lbs you could go for the 175 JJ.

yeh there is gonna be a 165.. but id go for the 175.. no problem to handle and it will last you.

what is the running length of the 165, and im leaning toward the 175 right now but a little skeptical because i want the ability to make sharp tight turns.

thats what i thought so i went with the 175 rather than the 185.. now i ride 192 bentchetlers. a ski like these is so nimble no matter how long you ride it.

Sorry. Accident tap on reply so I saw some 175s and they are like 9 inchs above my head. But thr ski that is touching the ground is only from my nose to my shin. What do you guys say, will I be able to handle these?

if you're a good skier than yes do it. i ride unrockered skis that are above my head in the park. with rocker youll be golden
