R.I.C.E method is key
rest- get lots of sleep and lay off your thumb aka dont move it for anything.
ice- ice it every few hours no more then 20 mins at a time. after a day switch to heat to increase circulation
Constraint- put a bandage around it to limit all movement also remember to make it more or less tight to drain fluid and decrease swelling
Elevate- keep it elevated over your heart as much as possible (best time is when you sleep)
first 48 hours are crucial you can improve healing time quite substantially if you follow these steps carefully.
