Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook, and the movie "the social network"

I have never seen a movie portray someone as negatively as the directors do in "the social network"

First of all, nerds are the shit. The reason Im writing this right now is because of 2 awesome nerds named bill gates and doug bishop.

The whole movie seemed to keep coming back to zuckerberg comparing girls to farm animals... as if that was horrible. If you posted something like that on this website you would get responses like "why are farm animals in the kitchen" etc... so i dont see why the directors try to jump on the wagon of what they "think" society is right now and burn zuckerberg at the stake for saying what he did.

Also Travis Parker is the man. Thanks to him creating napster, we now have i tunes, so i can buy the song i want for 99 cents instead of going to tower records and spending 25 dollars on a cd full of shit songs to get the one song on the album that i actually want to listen to. He deserves to have 7 percent share in facebook.

Eduardo Salverin never believed in facebooks potential, and never came to california with zuckerberg, and his idea of advertising on facebook would have killed it without a doubt, so i dont see why he should have kept anywhere near 30 percent of the company. The reason zuckerberg shrank salverins shares so much was probably because he knew salverin would come back for as much as possible, and leaving salverin with say 7 percent would mean salverin would have tens of millions of dollars to spend on lawyers, purchase juries, etc... do whatever it took to get back his 30 percent, which he by no means deserved.

In the end of the movie has some random bitch basicly calling zuckerberg an asshole, and portraying zuckerberg as someone with no friends...  they show him in the end sending a friend request to his original BU girlfriend who dumped him...

The reality is that his original girlfriend who dumped him probably has killed herself by now, realizing she dumped the soon to be youngest billionare in world history. Zuckerberg probably has 10 girlfriends who are all both smarter and hotter than his original one, and probably does not even remember his original girlfriends name.

Thats what I think is closer to reality. The directors of "the social network" are just jealous that they are counting their bank statements in the millions, while zuckerberg is counting his worth in the billions. The liberal hollywood directors probably also hate zuckerberg because he supports chris christie of new jersey and donated half his fortune to charity. Something the directors would never do.

The social network is just another box office movie, zuckerberg said the only thing true about the movie is the clothes he wears... zuckerberg and parker are 2 of the coolest people on the planet, and to portray them as assholes just shows how jealous the directors are

it has been well documented that the events portrayed in "the social network" are loosely based on reality.

on a semi-related note, i dont like how trex is portrayed in jurassic park. yes he was a killer and maybe would fuck some shit up if he was alive here, but killing everybody is just in his nature and the right thing to do. the homo-plant-eating-dinosaurs never believed in this whole jurassic-park thingy so they dont deserve much.

actually... it is erica allbright (his original girlfriend from bu) in the movie who he sends a friend request to, i just watched that seen again, i suggest you do the same before you argue this any further... I dont know why you think he would have been sending a friend request to that attorney girl who calls him an asshole anyways... she has about 30 seconds of screen time in the whole movie and her character has absolutely no symbolic importance, so i dont know why you think it would have made any sense in the movie for him to have been sending a friend request to that random attorney.

the point the movie was trying to make is that mark zuckerberg and sean parker,  (i called him travis parker by accident)  are assholes..

the movie just pisses me off, the directors are 100 times the assholes zuckerberg ever was... They are making money off of destroying zuckerbergs reputation... Zuckerberg made his money by providing something that hundreds of millions of people enjoy... for free...

man, i hope mark sees this thread, so he can show his gratitude to you for being the sole person to stick up for him in this terribly terrible tough time in his life.  wow, you are the only person who sees the importance in what he has done, and you, the only enlightended sole to see social network, figured out that sometimes, to cut a profit, directors stretch the truth from what actually happened....heaven forbit the movie be interesting.

Mark actually has one girl that he just asked to marry him. It was in the paper. I actually liked movie a lot. The reason I liked it is the script they had for the Mark actor. He pretty much owned everyone when he spoke to them. He owned the lawyers! To me, it made Mark look good. Not like a total nerd.

You know, you really don't need a forensics team to get to the bottom of this. If you guys were the inventors of Facebook, you'd have invented Facebook.

I think if your clients want to sit on my shoulders and call themselves tall, they have the right to give it a try - but there's no requirement that I enjoy sitting here listening to people lie. You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount. The rest of my attention is back at the offices of Facebook, where my colleagues and I are doing things that no one in this room, including and especially your clients, are intellectually or creatively capable of doing.


Ma'am, I know you've done your homework and so you know that money isn't a big part of my life, but at the moment I could buy Mt. Auburn Street, take the Phoenix Club, and turn it into my ping-pong room.

If you haven't noticed, everyone in this thread realizes that the portrayal in the film IS NOT ACCURATE.

Do you think that maybe, that statistic could be analogous to the rest of society?

It's based on a true story. Not a true story completely. He had a girlfriend the whole time he was developing Facebook, I know that much wasn't true. I'm sure plenty of other things aren't either.

the movie was what it was intended to be, enteraining. It wasn't made to be an hour and a half of hanging out with zuckerberg so you could decide whether you wanted to be best buds and go bowling every wednesday night together

that movie was great, dont needa freak out about it. it won enough awards to back this up aswell. the actor they chose looked very similar to mark zuckerberg and overall it was just well portrayed.

what does starting napster have to do with owning facebook?

Absolutly, because he did not have enough money to get back his 30%, which he did. Also he owned 30%, deserve has nothing to do with it. And have you seen the advertising done on facebook? It is huge, yet for some reason people still use it.

Why do you think the movie portrays Zuckerberg in a bad way? I think that is an opinion that you heard from someone else, not something you came up with.
I thought zuckerberg was kind of a fuck until i saw the movie because it portrayed him as a bad ass.
Of course there is a little fiction added otherwise it would be a documentary. And why the hell would the directors be jealous of zuckerberg? Do you know who directed the social network? David Fincher a very successful director who has also done Fight Club, and The curious case of benjamin button, both critically acclaimed films.

Sorry for the rant i just have no idea where you were coming from with this thread.
