the owners want to make it an 18 game season, while not increasing the salary of the players for the additional two games, and the players do not want an 18 game season at all.
So basically they are stuck there, and thats where it will stay until one side folds which both are so stubborn they are risking the entire season.
If the season does not happen that will cause the NFL to lose 4 billion dollars, which would be a huge hit and the NFL would never be the same for a large number of years...but the biggest toll would be on the communities that have NFL teams, game day generates so much revenue for the local economy, for local stores, restaurants, bars etc.
So they should just leave it the same. Both sides are being bitches.
