How to clean my jacket
Hi, I googled this but all the results I saw were "How to waterproof your jacket" not you to clean your waterproof jacket.
I have an oakley battilion jacket to be specific. Its orange and I let my friend borrow it for a day. Some oil/grease icicles from the lift dropped on it and made it reallyyyy dirty in a lot of places.
Really appreciate some help/tips here.
Obviously I want to maintain the waterproofing.
I don't think you can maintain the waterproofing with this method but you can just wash the jacket in a waterproofing solution after if you want. I got a bunch of motor oil/grease stains (from a snowmobile) out of my jacket by doing this:
What you need:
baking soda (my jacket was mainly white so it didn't effect if, I'm not sure about other colors)
grease cutting dish detergent
zout stain remover
All I did was mix a little baking soda, dish detergent, and zout in a small bowl.
Let the jacket soak in soapy water before you actually start scrubbing the stains.
Put the cleaning mixture on the stain and scrub in the direction of the fabric using the toothbrush.
The stains will come out slowly but they do come out. I hope this helps.
ok so I went for it
I used some Oxy stuff from Bissel combined with simple green. I prepd the stains with simple green and then dabbed at them with the Oxy...it worked super well on the major stains.
After that you should try nikwax.
Drycleaning liquid on bad oily stains, then follow the manufacturer's instructions on the label.
