There were two young guys throwing huge corked 9's at Vail a few years back on Teles.  I'm sure someone on here knows who that is.  They were sick.

Yeah. Those tricks look incredibly hard on teles, although I haven't teled before. I do know someone at my local hill that is just getting into it, and she says it's hard as fuck to do bigger stuff

I dunno, personally I like the feeling of being in a leather boot with all light gear on, or if I'm at the ski hill then a boot like the Scarpa T3's with the G3 targa's and lighter ski. not too heavy a set up at all. Everyone's getting into the whole heavy duty setups that are pretty much like downhill, then I've been seeing it a lot where all people do on them is parallel turns. what's the point then?? light older style setups are where it's at.

The first 3 years I skied at a ski hill (I mean a place with lifts) I had an old pair of straight cross country skis with edges, those epic Rottefella 3 pin bindings, leather boots, and the bamboo poles. got made fun of cooonstantly by snotty nosed kids but it was worth it. so much fun was had.

man i learned how to ski on tele's and you know what i swtiched and never looked back..

the last time i rode tele.. this kid from my school was all.' tele is so hard you cant do it.. so we switched gear. and i beat him down on his setup...

its tough..but i personly do not enjoy tele skiing.... and i disdain the general tele mentality of how much more elite they are.

doesn't sound like you've talked to very many people who ride tele. or at least none over 16. I always find them to be just about the nicest people you meet, for sure the easiest to talk to on the chairlift (well them and people who are skiing for their first time).  Unless of course you ask them if they know of any fresh powder stashes, then they might take your head off.

but tele really isn't that heard to get the basics of, especially in the newer heavy duty setups. makies it incredibly easy. But I have to ask, were you actually making tele turns on them? or parallel.. or just going straight as it sounds by "beat him down".

Ha! you've obviously never been to Beaver Creek! There is an escalator that brings you from the village base level to the chair lift... they give out chocolate chip cookies at the Park Hyatt at 3:00 every day and a wine tasting at 4:00... free hot chocolate in the morning in Bachelor's Gulch.

check it out and you'll think the motto couldn't be better.

damn the hrdest trick i can do on telles is a japan 540
landing switch on telle is sketch you feel like you are going to fall forward.
the nice thing is with newer set ups they aremuch more solidand those telles looked center mounted i have never seen a telle center mounted
and most of them are much nicer people

There are a hung of kids that park tele at beaver creek and some of them are real good.

As for me I just tried tele this year and go hooked!!

ive recently come to the realization that im doneski buying alpine stuff, and will devote my money to purchasing new / more tele stuff.

im basically only on my alpine stuff if im teaching. and then the first move i make is to lift my heel and i go WTF! this isnt working!

tele is like skiing on steroids.

dude at whistler a accatualy saw some one with that! not in the park i saw him in front of me on a chair. it was mounted like a water ski as well like one foot directly in front of the other it was sick!


on a another note hypothetically could you tele on dukes  like i know  it would be differnt due to the boots and all but would it work?

there is too much stress placed on the pivot point of an AT binding for it to last more than a few runs before either breaking, or the binding pulling out completely. some AT bindings have a huge problem with this even simply touring

i dont talk to many tele people  around hood they keep to them selvs pretty much 

and yes i was dropping   a knee and turning      i was winded the fuck out of mind after that run and my knees hate that shit.   i prefer to only have my heels free if iam going up hill or iam cross country skiing
