i prefer bottles.

I prefer to drink good beer out of bottles but if its coors light or something.... cans.

Cans are easier to recycle and produce less waste during manufacturing. Glass is also not allowed in many places such as campgrounds, beaches, festivals, etc.

also usually get cans cause they're cheaper and don't break nearly as easy. do prefer bottles though.

first off there is negligible difference in taste. I've heard the only difference comes from actually smelling the aluminum as you drink it. if you poured them into a glass and did a blind taste test there is absolutely no way you'd tell the difference.


unless of course the beer has been in glass bottles in the light. since flavours are broken down by light. in a can they're not. so a +1 for cans there.


also everyone saying "best out of a keg hurr". well what the hell do you think a keg is?? it's a massive fucking can.

I'm sorry, but you're completely wrong here. there is absolutely no taste difference. and if there is taste difference it's in favour of the cans since they don't allow UV into the beer breaking down some of the flavours.


I mean just look at your post right above the one I just quoted. you say drought is best. drought comes from a fucking massive aluminum can. there's absolutely nothing glass about it.


And from a scientific point of view, this is absolute garbage. Beer is inert to both the aluminum cans and the glass. there is absolutely nothing that leeches into them and alters the taste. I refer back to kegs. your drought beer you love so much better than bottled comes from inside aluminum.


and smell and taste are linked. the only reason why you think there is a taste difference is because you're actually smelling the aluminum while you drink from a can giving the illusion there's a taste difference. if you pour it into a glass there is absolutely no difference.



as for your glass tumblers vs aluminum tumblers, isn't this rather obvious?? there's a lot of reasons why glass is preferable to drink our of. for instance the weight. it's much nicer to drink out of something with a bit of heft. the aesthetics of glass. it looks nicer, you can see what you're drinking. It's easier to cheaply form glass into whatever shape you want. glass is cheaper. the whole smell bit too. about smelling the aluminum as you drink it. and having your mouth on aluminum just isn't as nice as glass. your dink stays cooler longer in glass. etc etc etc.


the solution then? pour your canned beer into a glass. chances are it will actually taste better than your bottled beer depending on how it was stored.

They've done side by side taste testing and tasters couldn't tell the difference.

Well he DOES also work at a Budweiser plant. That could be a large part of the problem.

Also I don't know if you've ever tried Heady Topper but I'll tell you right now it does not suffer from a can. Also there are a shitload of EC micros that are putting their best beers in cans simply for the portability and recycling. You really don't give up that much in taste if it's fantastic beer and it's fresh, you just run into problems when it's piss beer and it's transported/stored or sits warm for a while.

Doesn't matter the container. I drink beer mainly for the taste so it is getting poured into a glass anyways.
