Helmets save lives PERIOD.  Professional skiers and snowboarders are HUGE role models to a lot of kids... it is up to that professional how they choose to portray their image to the public. 

Seeing countless head injuries first hand, I understand the importance of helmets.  Just yesterday I strapped a 50 year old man to a backboard after he struck a tree... with his head.  The tree won, as they always do.  That man is now laying in a hospital bed with a cracked skull and he is lucky to be alive.  Was he wearing a helmet, no.

There is no reason not to wear helmets... it's 2011, they make cool helmets.  And to you and the other guy who said helmets don't do anything to prevent concussions, please educate yourselves and read this: http://www2.pocsports.com/poclab/medical.asp

Be safe and wear a helmet, it makes my job more enjoyable.

Im not arguing the importance of a helmet, I wear a helmet. My favorite snowboarder suffered a TBI this year, You might remember he was on the front page (Danny Tourmakine)

I can't believe how 60% of the responses in this thread are about the attire the kid is wearing rather then the trick, fucking homo shit man snow sports is officially a fashion show. Who the fuck cares what they wear, if they feel that they are good enough at riding that accidents don't happen and a helmet wont help them then they are free to do what they want.

On the trick, that fucking last cork occurred like 2 feet past the knuckle that is crazy. Never thought a trick like that was possible on a normal park jump.

Ya it so weird to see him spin that far past the knuckle. It looks like hes just going to do a double then BAM. The speed of the flips and airtime are just like a double. I think thats why it looks so steezy.

People here mix up things. It's one thing to be one of the best skiers/boarders - no role model duty here. But if you willingly expose yourself to TV coverage and take parts in competitions that are being broadcasted in a major way, which means making MONEY off the industry which means indirectly profiting from families and kids watching and buying your sponsor's stuff, you should be a role model. Sure parents should teach their kids not to copy what pros do, but since you chose to play along with the industry and as I said profit from kids' enthusiasm and money spending, I'd say you're morally obliged.

Ok, I was trying to resist replying to your increasingly moronic comments, but this one takes the cake. You not even 5 posts up proudly said that you wear a helmet whenever you snowboard. I hate to contribute to this shitstorm, but this blatantly hypocritical statement really just pissed me off.
