Panasonic AG-AF100

I'm on top of a fence and im either jumping back to my hvx or jumping over with a loan and buying a af100. Ive been doing tons of research, they're sweet, you can use any lens manually and any micro 4/3 or regular 4/3 (with adapter) with all electronic control. There is alot more info over on dvxuser than you will acquire from anyone on NS. I only say this because, a 5g body is really out of the question for 99% of the users on this website. For more people id tell them to stick with their hddslr setup since im planning on using about 7-8g to fund an entire af100 setup. Granted, you don't need to spend 3g on glass but i feel like to get the real "video" camera out of the af100, you need the right glass to achieve it.

Im looking into it pretty hardcore. Im paying up my 7D kit and saving up for this amazing camera. so many things make it great! big thing though is the lack of moiring and artifacting that you get from shitty slr sensors. live vectorscopes and histograms are going to be practicle for shooting right. its got everything right about dslr's and everything right about real film cameras.

minus the fact that its a 2x crop and has a M4/3s mount

2x... thats a shame... more depth of field.

and hard to get a really wide angle. like an 11-16, one of the widest lenses on the market, becomes a 22-32, which isn't that wide

yah but Its way more workable than having shitty artifacts and chromatic abberation, moiring and rolling shutter.

if I need a shot that wide, Il just pull out my 7D

7-14 f4, very nice lens, very sharp and minimal distortion due to 2x crop, comes out to 14-28mm 35mm-equivilant, or 8.75-17.5 on a 7d/t2i. Not that bad.

the office i work at is getting one with $15,000 worth of lenses and accessories, should be here in a week or two, so if anyone has any questions down the road, hit me up.

Apparently it doesnt record audio when in VFR is on which is a pretty big flaw, but doesnt matter for skiing (but I wouldnt sell an HVX for an AF100 if I only shot skiing...). Hopefully they can fix it soon.
