Trying to impress an italian beauty-what should i cook?

should i cook italian or no? if yes, i was thinking about making a lasagna or a ziti. if no, what should i make? would prefer not to spend more than $10-15 total.

I found this on that foodgawker site ^ (+k for dat). It looks simple, tasty, cheap and not too heavy.

15 Minute Creamy Avocado Pasta

Creamy, thick, and rich with lots of garlic flavour and a hint of lemon. This is my newest favourite pasta dish. The avocado works wonderfully in this recipe to create a sauce so creamy and thick, you will think there is cream hiding in there.

Inspired by My Recipe.org.

Yield: Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium sized ripe Avocado, pitted
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced + lemon zest to garnish
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, to taste (I used 3 and it was quite garlicky, but if you are not a big fan of garlic use 1 clove)
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt, or to taste
  • ~1/4 cup Fresh Basil, (probably optional)
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 servings/6 oz of your choice of pasta (I used 3oz of spelt and 3 oz of Kamut spaghetti)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Directions:

1. Bring several cups of water to a boil in a medium sized pot. Add in your pasta, reduce heat to medium, and cook until Al Dente, about 8-10 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, make the sauce by placing the garlic cloves, lemon juice, and olive oil into a food processor. Process until smooth. Now add in the pitted avocado, basil, and salt. Process until smooth and creamy.

3. When pasta is done cooking, drain and rinse in a strainer and place pasta into a large bowl. Pour on sauce and toss until fully combined. Garnish with lemon zest and black pepper. Serve immediately. Makes 2 servings.

Please note: This dish does not reheat well due to the avocado in the sauce. Please serve immediately.

we're talking moved here from turin 8 weeks ago italian.

and i made the ziti i was talking about, she said it was some of the best pasta she's ever had. (insert borat voice) GREAT SUCCESS!!

Broiler-Banana Dish

300g Broiler fillet strips
2 Bananas
2 dl whipping cream
2 dl Sweet Thai Chili sauce
140g Bacon
200g champignons
1 dl salted peanuts

S1. Fry the chicken on a pan, add salt and pepper for flavor.

S2. Mix cream and chili sauce in a bowl, chop up bananas to semithin slices.

S3. Spread the broiler and bananas evenly into a buttered casserole pan, and pour the cream mix on top, cook in 200 Celsius oven for 30 minutes.

S4. Slice bacon and champignons.

S5. Fry bacon, put aside and fry mushrooms in bacon grease, put bacon back into pan on low heat.

S6. Add bacon & mushrooms on top of casserole when finished, sprinkle crushed peanuts on top and serve.

For dessert:

Oven pears with vanilla sauce

Just slice the pears in half, and cook in 100 celsius oven for 10 mins, while you have already beat up the vanilla sauce into an almost creamy substance. Keep the vanilla in the fridge and put it on top of the warm pears, and voilá -

You just got laid!
