but don't you see that the masses' opinion is so manipulable? they don't come up with their own ideas about what's harder or better. they just hear it from dipshits like uncle e and sal masakela.
you can get the general populace to argue about ANYTHING (just look at how stupid american politics are getting now). like a few years ago, when they made a big deal over the rivalry between tanner and simon in the pipe. anyone who knew anything about skiing knew that there was no more of a rivalry there than there is a rivalry between the US army and a guy with a bb gun. but expn marketed that rivalry in such a way that people were up in arms over who was better, even though it was CLEAR that tanner was better and he ALWAYS won! it got so rancorous and volatile that people were throwing snowballs at tanner one year because they thought dumont should have won.
all of us posting and debating on the internet does nothing. but if mike douglas had taken half the time he spent talking about bobby b, and spent it discussing how difficult a cab 12 double japan is (and make no mistake, thats a fucking HARD trick. anyone who's ever tried a big spin with a dub japan knows that it is not easy, and that's why you never see them) then all the people at home would be debating whether or not b-dog should have been scored higher. but instead, mike douglas basically wrote it off as laziness, uncle e's dumb ass agreed, and the people at home have no idea because every time they've gone skiing, the most they've left the ground is off the side of a rail lip in the kiddy park.
the solution? kill uncle e, replace him with uncle luke van V, and let luke and mike have actually discussions about what tricks are harder or better.
