Ridiculous

So this is the deal:

My co-worker and I always play pranks on one another. I was wanting to do something to his computer. I want to do something but not destroy it, we also have it connected to a network. Just a simple prank. We use a keyboard, mouse, scanner and a barcode scanner. Any ideas? I can give more specs on the work area around him if needed.

take a screen shot of his current desktop, then but all of the icons into one folder. Put the screenshot you took as the background and, have the file that you put all the icons in, in the same exact spot, so when he goes to click on shit, it doesnt open up.

Set half a dozen mousetraps under his desk. Attach them to the leading edge of the desk, right where he would grab his desk to pull his chair in. Then move his chair back and watch him grab a handful of mousetrap when he sits down and moves his chair in.

Type shutdown.exe -s -t 180. 180 is number of seconds for timer before it shutsdown. Then right click on it, go to change icon under shortcut and change it to something that will match the name or wont be obvious. Profit?

Open the command prompt on his computer, and type

services.msc

This will open a window. Scroll down to "messenger" and double click. Set it to "Automatic" press "Apply" and then press "Start"

You can now close the window.

In the command prompt, type

net send * test

This will send a message to all computers on the network that have the messenger turned on. It will open on his screen, and from the header of the message you can determine the "name" or address of his computer. Remember this or write it down.\

Now go back to your own computer, and turn on your own messenger using the same process.

Using your command prompt, you can now send messages to your coworker following the syntax:

net send "computer name" message

where "computer name" is your coworker's computer's address, without quotations, and message is your message.

For example:

net send CL-A8-05 Microsoft has detected that you have a small penis. Consider upgrading for improved performance.

The messages look very official and assuming your coworker is not tremendously knowledgeable about computers, he'll freak out.
