Acne stuff...

everyone knows acne sucks, 85 percent of adolescents and young adults between the ages of 12 and 24 develop it...anyone have good ways of getting rid of it?

okay its like this...

accutane is a wonder drug (pill form, most potent form of acne fighting medicine), if acne is cancer, then accutane is a cancer curing drug. for people with it really bad accutane will solve your problems. i don't have the worst kind of acne, but i've had problems with it in the past, it was bad enought that anything short of accutane wasn't good enough. so i went on accutane. and i've done two rounds of it and its been fucking amazing, like i have nothing, no scars no shit no nothing. other than accutane there are other optinons, benzamyacin (which basically has bleach in it) is often good for people with mild problems. retin a didn't work for me, nor did similar levels of perscription.

the bottom line is if you have something that isn't going away then you should meet with a doctor. doctors are pretty good, pretty well informed, but nothing in comparison to dermatologists. its like the difference between a midas brake specialist and a 350 cobra specialist.

i had problems with my skin and due to my self concious nature and insecurities, i lost a year of my life. i strongly urge you to seek out a dermatologist for advice. looking in a mirror everyday can make you feel week and helpless, but just get you ass in gear and call up the derm. make an appointment and you're golden.

Wow, alpinecowboy that was a good little bit of info, and I can strongly relate to that because I went through the same thing, and its total bullshit people have to, it really does take away a year of your life. Although I have two small scars on my face.

use roaccutane, i went on that and it works real well, or you can have laser surgery but i never had like proper acne. just wash your skin, twice a day, neutrogena or clean and clear works well.

acne is so gross. my friend is on a pill for it. and it realllly works. determatoligists are good only if you have it real bad. but like a couple zits can be cleared up w/ grocery store stuff. clean and clear or nuetrogena daily face wash is good. as long as you keep ur face clean and dont touch ur face w/ dirty hands you shouldnt get it. bacteria can get in ur pores and screw u over so much.

acne and dirty skin are two entirely different things. if you have acne the stuff in the grocery store isn't going to do a damn thing, nor is religiously washing your face.

^ ya it clogs ur pores. if its really bad i would get acctane. i know people that had discusting acne and they took accutane and now its completly gone. its pretty amazing shit.

i took it, a bunc hof my friends took it, we're all alive, consult your doctor, it worked really well for me, bad things--- you can't drink, go in the sun, and your skin gets REALLY dry and you need a blood test every month, best to take it when you're younger, grades 9 and 10 so that it doesn't addect your social drinking too much. I had bad acne and havn't had a breakout since my 7 month pill treatement on accutane

Fuck^ seems pretty high maintenence for acne stuff. Blood tests, no drinking, mood swings. i dunno. i will mess with OTC stuf until i find a winner.

you're supposed to keep your drinking to a minimum, but on my first round i was drinking twice a week each time at least 15 - 18 beers - which is stupid, but what am i not gonna drink in college? its not good for liver, thats a fact. but having bad skin was bad for my sex life and social life.

you can go in the sun. i did.

as for side affects it totally depends on the purpose. my lips were basically falling off my face. i had to put aquaphor (like chapstick but waaaaay better) on my lips at least once every two hours, annoying but something i could totally handle for pristine skin. sometimes the skin on my finger tips would peel off which was kind of foul, but again totally worth it.

as far as the depression thing goes, suicide and whatnot, use your ability to filter the rumors and urban legends that are most likely created be people who don't know what they're talking about. it can cause depression i guess, and thats not something to shrug off. i personally was waaay depressed when i had bad skin, so i was in a way a depression solving drug for me. cases where depression has been 'contracted' are very rare. i mean there are cases of people going blind from the drug.

as for the blood tests, big fucking deal. you get them once a month or two. they have to make sure you liver isn't falling apart.

look i took it my life is way better because of it. if i wasn't so lazy i'd be writing letters to roche to say thank you.

i'm an acne survivor. ha.

I have acne only on my forehead where my hair hides it, so no ones sees it. The dermatologist said that it wasn't because of the hair, so I'm not cutting it.

My stuff doesen't really work, so does ayone know if you need a prescription for accutane? (since it sounds so good)

i used to have wicked bad acne. i used oxy and it seemed to not work at all. i then didnt use it and now it is not as bad. so now i dont use anything. im just hoping it goes way soon cause it can get really annoying

Yeah, I drank a lot while taking it but all it did was show up on my blood tests, so the doctor had reason to believe I was a teenage alcoholic or the acuttane was killing my liver. She knew it was alcohol and I didn't care so it worked out good. She got pissed though and I didn't finish the whole treatment.

no man, it depends but its usually about 5 months, I only did like 3 months and I'm good to go. It takes about 7 months to get an appointment with your dermotologist so youd better call em up quickly. Well 7 months for my dermo since theres only one for 2 huge citys.

my friend was on accutane for 7 monthes and it didnt work one bit so he went down a hill on his bike, hit the front brakes nd skidded down on his face...that worked well


no im kidding im on accutane for a month now, and id recomend it... yea acne is not a type of thing that girls look for in a guy...but accutane helps that so no worries

I took Accutance 2 or 3 years ago and it worked so well. I was on it for about 5 months, and I haven't had any problems. I'd only suggest it though if you have really bad acne or insecurities about it. But seriously, it's a miracle drug.
And now I just wash my face with SpectroJel. It's pretty awesome too.

the sun has like vitamin A or something that helps get rid of acne, that's what accutane is, vitamin A, but in concentrate and with some other shit too

I have minor acne and i use benzaclin that you rub on your forehead after you shower. I still get a few pimples, but nothing major so that works fine for minor acne.

As for accutane, i did a report on it last year in bio. One thing is, if you are planning on having a baby or getting a girl pregnant, DONT TAKE IT, it greatly increases the chance of birht defects. Also, if you have minor acne, again dont take it. It is highly recommended that only people with severe acne take it. Severe defined as disfiguring, not a few pimples here and there.

yeah well fuck all you guys, i got fucked. my parents are of the religion that insists on avoiding doctors... so they didnt want to pay to take me to a dermatologist, now i get to pay for it... in shame and whatnot.

not touching for face at all.. water, soap etc best for me. Just let it go.. no washing. no feeling. I got prescription stuff and it did squat shit.. just try not doing anything..

There's a product called Proactiv. But they're kind of expensive- $30-40USD for a package of it. I know few people that uses these product, they works good.
