I am curious if anyone else finds it odd that Matt Walker has not been invited to the X Games as of now. Before I present my case, please do not interpret this as hate on any athlete that has been included, I believe they are all quite talented. Walker has made made the finals for the past 2 years (I believe 3 but could not find data to support that), and has placed higher each year he competes. I know that AFP points from the previous year have some consideration in the decision, but I think its odd they would not include a consistent finalist. His rails skills are way on point and his air style is killer. Depending on the amount of support people show here, I plan on making a pitch to the competition committee. Yes, I know I have little to no say in the matter, but I believe if they saw a large backing from the community that follows the slopestyle event the most it may help. Everyone voted him to Sweden last year, lets see if we can bring back to Aspen. Plus hes a local boy! This isn't supposed to be a rant, I simply enjoy his skiing and think hes a great athlete. If you disagree there is no need for snide remarks, simply move on. Thanks for your time, and I hope you all have a great season.
you're right but the committee wouldn't be taking their job lightly. one of the hardest things for them to do would be not selecting a skier that appeared in the previous year. they would have justified it. if you want to lobby the committee i wish you the best of luck, but i dont expect that much will happen :(
Shifty over that hitching post and the rail transfers not to include those made him to the finals. This is news to me. Maybe it was his decision because I see no way the committee could keep him out with his solid finishes.
I am a 17 year old boy and I do not have the means the support a wife.-radtad
thanks for the support everybody!! this is the deal... i had surgery on my shoulder in july and the doc said i could ski at 4 months but i really shouldn't crash on it til at least 6 months. i opted out of dew breck and thankfully got a wildcard to dew Killy. the dudes over at ESPN didnt know this and they dont like having an injured rider's first comp back to be X-Games because everyone sends it at X and thats a recipe for disaster. I have talked to the espn dudes since then and informed them i am doing Dew Killy and they have taken that into consideration. They decreased slope from 20 riders to 16 (of which all 16 have already been named...) and they are gonna release a final list including alternates sometime next week and I am crossing my fingers!
