i would have to say and i hate to say it but tom wallisch just because of the fact that his sponsors have a lot of money and i have seen him in a lot of ads lately... what do yu guys think? no hate please

Dale Begg-Smith is definitely up there. He drives a lambo and is worth about 10m mostly due to his business. He's also a badass.

You're an idiot. Tom is a whole lot more well known than Sage Seth and Abma. Where Dan said they had a bigger presence is debatable, but saying they are more well known is stupid. I guarantee you if you asked random people across the country skiing more people would know Tom Wallisch than Mark Abma, or Sage, Seth would be close only because of Obsetheds.

The biggest names people outside of the skiing community will recognize are:

Tanner (X Games, just on Fox, been around for a while.)
Simon (X Games, Ellen)
Bobby (X Games, ESPN magazine)
Dana Flahr (Fox)

Why would any weekend warrior or vacationer know Mark or Sage? The X Games and now Dew Tour are where people are seeing skiers, not TGR or MSP films.

definitly JO. professional skiers in sweden get paid like NFL players in the US, millions. probaly andreas Haviet (sp) is second.

he is an extremely popular skier among preteen/teenagers who ski park (aka Newschoolers) but that is definatley not the majority of skiers. i don't know if you have heard of this thing called Teton Gravity Resarch. Its one of the biggest ski film companies (bigger than level 1) and its website is the biggest online skiing community. they have been around for a few decades, and sage and seth have been the stars of their movies for years.

Tom Wallisch is not a household name, seth and sage are icons and have been for years.

probably the best ranked list ive seen anyone post...

notes: jon is really loaded to the public eye but apparently is pretty much leased out to the max... aka doesn't really own a lot of his assets

tanner and simon definitely do well for themselves...

jossi is pretty well up there considering he owns two homes in two countries and is the face of atomic and nike 6.0



but

wallisch and bobby brown are certainly on the rise... wallisch has major sponsors across the board in virtually every category - and he wins a SHIT ton of contests

but i really think bobby is the one ready to make the biggest earnings push - his new under armour contract is a 5 yr deal worth a lot lot lot including stock in UA... and just look at his X Games commerical, dude is poised to become the face of freeskiing if slopestyle makes 2014 sochi

Tom probably wouldn't break the top ten list (yet). Jon probably does the best financially in freesking.  Followed by Simon and Tanner, but Bobby Brown will soon be at the top of the charts.

Tom is definatly on the rise and could be a household name soon with his sponsers/commercials/competitions, but he isn't one yet.
i'd say both about 90% of the people who know who he is, is a skier or boarder. and i'd say the same number for seth. and within skiing way more people know about seth than tom.

sure tom is huge in newschool skiing, but we are a minority as far as skiers go and seth has been an icon for skiing for years. freeskiers, big mountain skiers knew him alike He was the guy bringing newschool to the backcountry. so all the newschool skiers who have been around for a while know who he is and all the big mountain and backcountry skiers and a large amount of weekend warriors that know who he is that don't pay attention to park skiing (the vast majority) have no idea who tom wallisch is.

This Bloomberg article (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-12-06/ski-champion-lyndsey-vonn-follows-sharapova-federer-trail-in-money-search.html) has Lindsay Vonn making $6 million annually just in endorsements. She probably takes the prize.

Vonn is making millions, Bode too, at least as of a few years back. Jon makes very good money, but also spends a lot, and doesn't even own his place in Monaco. Tom is making bank. Tanner has been making 100k+ for a while. I wouldn't consider any of them "wealthy", although that term is VERY relative. I don't think a single skier out there is making Shaun White/Tony Hawk status dough tho...yo.

Sage was in the old Nissan Xterra commercials and has been The North Face's poster boy for years (notice it's not Wallisch who stars in their commercials), people recognize him far more than you realize even if they don't know his name. Seth is just a legend in the industry who has been in movies for years and reached a far greater audience, where as Wallisch is in level 1 movies which are only watched by a very small demographic. I don't really have as much of an argument for Abma though I'd say his role within the ski industry has more influence because of the respect he has gained. Also Candide is no where on you're list, someone who has won X-Games gold in big air, slope and pipe (and put skier pipe on the map with his battle with CR that year)

And, wallisch will be right there with Seth I think, just because of X Games. According to this article http://www.denverpost.com/extremes/ci_14407668, 43 million viewers watched on TV. So, if those people watched they heard the names like Simon, Bobby and Tom just from commercials and stuff for the upcoming events. People will know Simon and Tanner because that is all they talked about for years in terms of skiing. They will know Bobby from last year because they kept advertising if he could get two golds during the commercials of the snowmobile events.

Tom hasn't done anything big at X yet, but when he does he will be more well known than Seth, because 43 million is a whole lot bigger than the people who watch TGR flicks or remember a commercial from five years ago.

You only make the money like Jon if your an successful entrepeneur. Skiers like tom wallisch, simon, tanner etc wont ever be close as they dont work as hard besides skiing.
