Verizon Iphone?

So theres been lots of promising reports from Bloomberg and Fortune magazine recently concerning the release of the IPhone for verizon in "Early 2011". Everyone in the tech world seems convinced its gonna happen in January/February.

Who else has been waiting for this?? I hope it happens. Im tired of settling for my shitty blackberry

i think realistically 70% of verizon users will get an iphone. i've been waiting. my phone's been in rough shape for months now but i'm waiting to see if anything happens in jan/feb. i just feel like actually getting an iphone when they come out will be a huge shit show

I'm definitely going to purchase one. I love my Blackberry, but my contract is up Feb. 11 which is right around when iPhone should be coming in (if said rumors are true).

Since the iPad works on Verizon's service, I'm sure the iPhone is in the wings. However, I'll be sticking with AT&T because of the discount my dad gets and the better service in my area.

Wrong. Ipad does not work natively on verizon. It requires a 3g adapter, roughly the size of a baseball.

anyway. ... when verizon gets the iphone it will actually crash the network worse then it did with att. it won't be able to browse the net and take a phone call at the same time. the iphone is actually pretty behind times. it just now does what my blackberry did six years ago.

After owning my droid x, i see no use or want for an iphone. I mean, if you jailbreak it, its legit as fuck but otherwise they're so limited. The only thing i'd probably like better about an iphone is the music player, but i barely use my droid one so its nbd to me.

The new generation of droids (4g lte) are going to absolutely buttfuck iphones, im sure they'll make "iphone 4g lte" or something and its gonna be the exact same thing as the iphone 4 just with an upgraded network. Not only that, but verizons 4g network is gonna buttfuck everyone by 2013 when they have their current 3g coverage with 4g, its gonna be amazing.

Yep. I switched to Verizon and got an X, planned to switch with iPhone when it came out. Not anymore. Droids are so much better, and Im a Mac boy.

I have a blackberry storm and it sucks balls. I have an upgrade in January though, so when that comes I'm gonna decide between an htc phone or an iphone (I have verizon).

I doubt the iPhone will come in Jan. 2011. Also, the new Verizon iPhone will for sure not be LTE "4G". It will still run on their 3G network.

Apple is JUST NOW hiring engineers that know about CDMA and WCDMA. That means the phone has not even been designed or anything.

im going with the samsung facinate, its a lot easier to text on than an iphone plus the battery life is a lot better. I dont think they will have 4g phones out for a while because all they have out now are the usb labtop modems and the 4glte is only in 32 cities in the world

i came from an iphone before i got my droid x, and if anything i like the droid touch screen better. there just isnt anything i can think of that i liked better about the iphone.

In my humble opinion, the iphone screen is just much more responsive and quick, and it responds to the heat in your finger rather than pressure(as many touchscreens do) so that eliminates a whole cavalcade of issues.

Really? Try battery life.  I know from experience they don't even come close.  But hey, if you want to charge your phone 3 times a day and talk about programming your phone just to be cool then have at it.

The huge screen is sick though.

this. the droid x on internet has unlegible font you have to zoom in depspite the fact that the screen is huge. the iphone screen is so much clearer ane the touch screen just works. yes droid lets u do whatever you want to your phone but the simple fact if the matter is that most people do not customize their phone. iphone is set up the way you want it out of the box. and the iphone is sexier than any other phone out there.

Ya the touch functions are better, and I personally stuck with it since my favorite media player is the iPod.  I just liked knowing how all the stuff worked right away since I had used iTouches so much before.  Then you can just toss out a lot of the Droids when it comes to memory.  No way I was gonna pay that much for memory when I got a refurbished 32 gig phone for $120.

The Droid interface is pretty cool, but for some reason a lot of people don't seem to like the music player.  No idea what that's about, seems like that wouldn't be much different.  4G is super fast too, when it's actually available in more locations that will be a strong pull for Verizon.

Either way I hope Verizon gets it one day (I doubt it, this rumor has existed for 5 years).  But I've owned a large chunk of Apple stock for quite a few years now and I like watching it double every year :)

my droid x can almost last two days with regular use, the day after i got it i spent as much time as i could on it that day, probably 1.5 hours on the internet, 2 hours of games, navigated my way to my friends house 30 minutes away, plus just regular talking and texting. from 8 in the morning to 12 at night, and i still had a decent amount of battery left. now i can use it all day, leave it unplugged overnight, charge it a little bit in my car on the way to work in the morning, and have plenty left by that night.

ha, my x is so much easier to use for internet than my iphone, clarity seems better on the x if anything, and the big screen makes it that much better.

Either way, if it is true that the verizon iphone isn't on the 4g network then you would be a damn fool to waste your money on one. Argue all you want about the little details separating the usability of the two, 4g will dominate 3g, no argument. Unless your argument is that you prefer everything taking much longer, like those turtles in the comcast commercials.

Iphone is dying, even dedicated mac-fuckers are pumped on droids once they try them. That's a real bad sign. They held out too long on making a verizon iphone and in my opinion it's too little too late.

Unless they manage to make it for the new network... then I will definitely consider getting one.

i think the android platform has a lot more potential, but i tried out my brother's droid x for the first time a little while ago and while the hardware was beautiful, the software was frustratingly unintuitive, not as responsive, and it crashed something like 3 times just trying to play a song. hopefully a firmware update will fix this. meanwhile i think the iphone is just as good if not better than the droid x the same way i consider macbook pro to be just as good as or better than a pc of similar or even slightly better specs. it just works.

Wow that sounds impressive, I haven't used an X before.  The EVO was awful on battery, as was the first Droid I used about a year ago.  2 days is really good!

I don't think they will die. Sure they are behind on some features after a few months, but when they released they were a pretty kick ass option.  Even though they only update them every year instead of every couple of months, I would put money on them coming out with something new on the next model that keeps them flying off the shelves.  Then you can factor in the advertising.  Apple's is simple and to the point.  The Droid commercials point out details that only techy geeks are going to notice, not so much the general public that can't tell the difference.  The noob friendly format of Apple's products is a big seller I would say.

I read that article in the fortune magazine last month on a flight and i was stoked because I just got an upgrade so I was gonna save it for the iphone and we ended up going to a verizon in san diego and this guy talked me into getting a samsung fascinate so now i have a phone that I will only have had for 2 months so theres no way i can get my mom to get me an iphone haha

it wont last two days if your using it alot, if im checking email, talking and texting alot, and maybe spending an hour or so doing other crap, it will last one day, through the night, and till like 2 or 3 the next day. but if im just texting and calling, and use my little battery saver bar on the top to keep the brightness low, it will last two days, till like 11 or 12 the second night. you would have to spend a shit ton of time on it to go through the battery in less than a day.
