if i were you, i would just keep that range rover stock. i doesnt really make sense to throw 5 grand or so into that suv when you can buy a dedicated trail rig for under 2 grand. I have my tahoe as a daily driver and all around car while my yota truck is my trail rig. I picked mine up for $1100 and it runs and looks great. This way you dont have to worry about beating the shit out of your daily driver on the trails and a range rover seems like parts and repairs would be expensive. The toyotas are incredibly capapble, parts are cheap, and are extrememly easy to work on. just my 2 cents

this. eespecially on a vehicle with that kinda mileage. And from what I hear, Range Rovers aren't the most reliable vehicles. You could even just buy a old jeep and use it for your trail rig.

I 3rd this. I'd never take a Range Rover off-roading... granted I live in the Rocky Mountains. But I trashed my new XTerra's paint job and shit off-roading all last season... bought myself a dirtbike so I'm not tempted to take it off road anymore. So fun but isn't worth it unless it's an older car that's reliable.

I'd buy an old jeep as well.

I already thought about that, but the finance for me makes the most sense to use the rover. I don't really need a daily driver, as I can use public transit for my transportation every day, and daily gas on the range is pricy. Also, I do most of my repairs in house, which saves me a ton of money. Not to mention the rover is an extremely capable vehicle as well. I took it wheeling back when it was fully stock, and I kept up with many of the modified jeeps and yotas, aside from traction issues in some slippery sections, as I was on stock tires. With 230000, I'm confident I can get it to 300000 with general maintenance and repair. I'm not too worried about paint and aesthetics, as that comes with wheeling. Not to mention if everything is done properly, this vehicle can be kept as a trail rig for another 10 years.

I do understand where you guys are coming from, and I have looked into it. However it does in my case make sense for me to use my own vehicle.

I will also admit I do have a bias for Land Rovers, and I'm not quite sure I could give one up for a Toyota or Jeep. Anybody who has owned/owns a rover I'm sure will usually agree with me.

I see your point. I only brought up the reliability issue because the people i know who have one spend a lot of time and money getting them worked on but they are also newer then yours. If you take care of it and treat that thing like a baby then theres no reason it shouldn't last.

if your gonna start wheeling with it the first thing I would do is throw some skid plates on that thing and save yourself from some serious damage.

already in the process. diff guards front and rear, sliders and outriggers are all in the process.

when i replace the front bumper, it will require a skid plate to protect the steering components (as you can see in the modified picture. i'm actually buying that exact bumper). the vehicle already has skid plates for things like the fuel tank and pan and whatnot, but I plan on making them stronger this summer. the rear bumper will also have a skid plate on the back for any extreme departure angles. here are shots of the full vehicle all around. I'm buying most of what this vehicle has, so aside from color and some other minor things, this will be the final result:

inner fender trimming, with minor outer trimming. it doesn't look like it, but the wheels tuck very nicely into the wells and allow for more flex than that picture shows. I also don't know but those tires might be a size up from mines

Funny story:

Ahmet names all objects that are important to him: his car, computer, etc. So this one time he calls Ash B and asks if she has room for John(I forgot his name) in her car for this 8 hour trip out to CO from SLC that Ahmet had taken the day before. Thinking it was his laptop or something that he forgot she goes "oh sure!" Turns out to be some random kid who has a bunch of shit with him who's trying to bum a ride out to CO and they had to smash all his shit in with hers. She said it was the most awkward 8 hours of her life. HAHAHAHAHA.

Moral of the story: Always clarify with Ahmet if it's a human or an object.

jesus ur really lucky that STI is fucking beautiful, i've had a 91 f150 and a 99 camry. Next car 100% is a Audi URS4 so i could be like my big bro :) i want his car so bad, he just got his RS2 the other day, hes gonna go full RS2 this summer and more so hyped to see how his car comes out as a whole. I dunno but there's just something about owning that classic german car man, its a piece of history in my eyes, owning the first S4.

i have a 2003 GMC sierra 1500hd crew cab and i fucking love it. i have never driven a truck i liked more, it has great ride quality, amazing visibility and handles about as good as something weighing 6,000lbs ever could. its a beast and performs every day so far above and beyond the call of duty, i have had adventures galore in that truck and she has saved me from serious shit.

i also have a 1992 bmw 325i convertible. i was looking for a fun car that would be good on gas for the summer and really wanted a miata but i got a good deal on this with only 85,000 miles and it had never seen a winter so i bought it instead. i dont like it very much at all. its fucking slow and ive owned it for about a month and have only driven it maybe three times because of how much work it has needed. the thing was basically held together with hopes and dream by the redneck that owned it before me. i had to pull basically an entire front end from a 318i at a junkyard and swap it on. also rewired much of the car and have become slowly aware that something is very wrong with the paint. it looks ok, but chips off pretty much every time i touch the car. all i can think about while i work on it is how much fun i would be having if i bought a miata instead. i wanted to make the bmw into a fun good looking cruiser all stanced out but im convinced thats hopeless and im probably just going to build and turbo its shitty m20 until it dies and then burn/sell/crush it.

Talon went to someone as a project. It's time was past anyways though. Rust on the upper strut tower mounts was creeping up and was needing some major work to ensure it was structurally sound.

MR2 is technically still in my ownership, however needs a full rewiring of the ECU due to electrical gremlins that reared their head. It was a n/t chassis that had the turbo motor swapped in prior to me owning. What I did not know was that the swap was a hackjob and poorly done. Found that our a year and a half later when she died on the roadside with no warning.

I don't have the time for it anymore though, and am selling it off to someone who can bring her back to running condition and enjoy how awesome of a car it truly is. Between skiing, mountain biking, and home ownership, I just don't have the time or money to mess around with pleasure cars anymore.

My Impreza Outback actually fills my desire for fun driving pretty well. it may not be fast in a straightline, but it's agile and inspiring to drive while being able to haul my bike on the roof, and skis fit in the back easily without adding undue expenses.

which was fun, but not the car i wish it was. (IF/WHEN hyundai throws the Tau V8 into the genesis i think it will be a great car. but the tranny is notchy as hell and its slow as ballsack right now, but i think they are really gonna hit this thing out of the park when they do the next update)

so finally, i realized that i dont want to waste any more money modding cars because A. wastes money, B. i'm almost 21 now, time to grow out of the "my cars faster than yours" thing, C. i'd just rather have a nice car stock, that will hold resale and wont be a pain in the ass to sell in a couple years after i'm done with it.
