Sorry bub, you need new glass. Vignettes too much, and its off center. Its causing overexposure in the middle of your frame too. And what ever other prime you have (1:00), the CA is noticeable. I know its not what you want to hear, but Id say both lenses have to go.

What lenses/versions are they?

The wide angle is a 20mm vivitar, but even the nikon 20mm 2.8 has a small rear element and will have vignette on a 35mm adapter. The other is a nikkor non-ai 50mm 1.4.

If it's a full frame lens, it should will project an image that will cover the whole image area.

That vignetting / spotlight combo is terrible though, especially the blueish halo around the burned out area. You need a new wide angle lens for sure.

That or stop the lens down, typically that helps with Vignetting.(not sure if there are limitations to stopping down with a redrock though)

Most of the really bad vignette is in a lower light situation, when its sunny out its not as bad at all.

I am going to be totally honest as a non-Filmer. I don't like the black on the side, I don't like the shaky camera work (get a damned fluid head). The riding is sick, and there is potential.

Ha, you think those hand held shots were on a tripod? i had this with a shoulder mount:

can't exactly keep that super steady, its not meant to just fling around like i was doing haha i thought my two actual tripod shots were nice, you didnt seem to notice.

the vigneting was a blow. whats the advantage of havving a 35 mm adaptor instead of using a dslr? it seems anoying as fuck to use and comber sum

Having a real video camera is the advantage. Plus, 35mm adapters actually look good, dslrs are so digital.

Il give you the real video camera advantage but only for two reasons: focus and zoom. I cant dissagree more with the digitalness of dslr's. I think you just want to swim against the current like you tend to do about popular things. you go against things that are popular so that you can be that one guy who is always against something

Zoom is irrelevant when using a 35mm adapter because it is only used to frame shot on the ground glass. Any zooming has to be done with a telephoto, and by that point, your camera is over two feet long, making it extremely impractical.

Also, DSLRs are far superior to 35mm adapters, optically speaking. 35mm adapters stick out like a sore thumb because of their inferior optics, but you won't have artifact problems either. DSLRs look digital because of the processors, not the optics. It's a trade-off really.

Video + 35mm adapter
Pros: no artifacts
Cons: light loss, bad optics, extremely problematic, impractical size/shape

DSLR
Pros: optics, light sensitivity, size, simplicity
Cons: artifacts

DSLR sensors are essentially photo sensors that have been rigged to shoot video. A panasonic HPX sensor shoots better quality video than any DSLR if you are looking at color rendition.

Some people like the DSLR look. If I shot video, I would do so with an HPX and an adapter with nikon glass.

If you can get a copy of Gunnie Season, check out the bonus feature "Sound and Light". You can't get that sort of footage on a DSLR.

*Disclaimer - I'm sure there's ways to get similarly stunning footage out of a DSLR, but in the end, the video cameras, made for video are going to work better in general.

of course, that's assuming you have good glass on the end of your adapter, and a good adapter.

and read what Landis said. I like the look of the adapter better mostly because I hate how most colors render on DSLRs - but he knows a lot more than me about video.

that vig really is obnoxious. the CA on the other lens was noticeable but tolerable if you really cant afford a new one. but that wideangle needs to go asap.
