you know how you can choose an instrument and play it with the keyboard as a piano? why couldnt there be a thing where you hum or sing or whistle a tune you want, then convert it into any given instrument playing those same notes?
cause i always think of sick ass tunes but i can only sing or whistle them, i suck balls at real instruments cause ive almost never played them so it's not like i can think of a song and play it or transcribe it
in my head there are two distinct parts of being "good" at music. one part is the ability to think of cool, interesting tunes and melodies and harmonies. i can do that part (i mean, sort of. not saying i'm the next paul mccartney). the other aspect is being proficient at a certain instrument and being able to play what you want. i do not have this aspect cause ive never really played any instrument much, aside from a tiny bit of piano when i was young. oh yeah and then there's music theory but i obviously don't know shit about that
so i have the ability to think of sick tunes but have no way to turn them into music... i cant transcribe them or tell someone how to play them or write them down you know?
i don't think it'd be that hard to program, at least compared to what already exists.. i mean, garageband can already take what you play and change it to another instrument, it can already take what you play and transcribe the notes you played.. doesnt seem out of this world to listen to what you sing or whatever and transcribe it, then use those notes on a different "instrument"
